I found this extension to be the cheapest option. 250mm should work.

I wonder if the van swing would fit IG. according to this website, it needs either a four-bolt 83x56 mm or a two-bolt 90 mm flange to be mounted. What standard do we have on our IG?
Would be also interesting how much extra space the swing arm needs. Maybe the sphere is far enough back so it would fit?

Temperate rainforest interspersed with mixed sclerophyll forest. Home to some of the world's tallest flowering trees.
As for that cycling event , sure enough my son in ED messaged me "In fact we had a MTN biker airlifted from Maydena yesterday which was probably from this event"

My solution (I ride Evil MTB) is a Thule T2 XTR Pro (no touch) with an 8” RockyMounts extender so it clears the spare. No wobble on the hitch. To be strictly legal, I use a Thule license plate holder strapped to the rear ladder, and re-wired it to plug into the rear left side aux power port. Just put a couple of cable clips into the gutter rail so the wire doesn’t blow around when I remount my license plate into the Thule plate holder. I don’t think a cop would REALLY ticket me for covering up the plates with the hitch - but they could, so just to be safe. Very solid, no wobble, good protection, much better than a roof mount. In fairness, the whole process takes 5-10 minutes to set up / break down, but I don’t just drive around with the rack on - a lot of people do that, but I don’t ride every day.

Yes - I do, just to be sure. I just keep a tool kit in the back. It’s super simple. Really just takes me about 5 minutes or so to move the plate, plug it in, put the rack on the hitch and lock it down. Sorry I don’t have pictures right now- in Germany on business - but this is the license plate holder. I just swapped the wiring at the end to plug into the Deutsch connection in the aux power port - drivers side rear - and the plate holder has nylon straps that I just connect to the top rung of the ladder.


I’m sure there are more elegant solutions, but this is totally stable, totally secure, totally street legal, and provides maximum protection for my bike. The Thule rack also drops lower than horizontal for loading and unloading, and has wheels to move it around in the garage.


All things considered, it’s a setup that I really like - I would hate to be climbing up and down on the roof, and wouldn’t want that kind of abuse to the frame and components from having it up top.
