Ineos supplied Brink detachable tow bar solved this problem for me, caravan now in correct level.
(See earlier posts)
That looks well balanced. Any shifting of wines involved?

Hi, I have gone back and looked at your post. I needed a bigger drop than you - maybe due to the extreme length of the trailer and the weight is was carrying.

Was that Ineos Automotive or your Ineos dealer’s recommendation?

Cheers

John

Neither John, they were not a lot of help so I got all the dimensions from Brink the manufacturer. I t has dropped the height by 3.25 inches, which is spot on for me.

Don't suppose they dropped you a diagram/drawing?

That’s good, I have flexibility with my Dixon Bate adjustable one too. Cheers, John

No mate they didn’t. I did fit a heavy duty drop plate that did the job in the interim while I was waiting for the detachable version. The drop plate ploughed the fields up off road (passed on to another forum member}.
I remove the detachable tow bar after use to preven the same and theft😂

I have heard that those pin type adjustable hitches are prone to enabling trailer theft by wholesale removal of the thing. I thought they were on rails so they had to be slid right ont but if only on the pins it would be easy to make off with the trailer with a similarly equipt vehicle.

I was planning a two inch drop plate initially. Apart from the concern above i imagine the adjustable hitches to be possibly a bit prone to rattling?

I noticed that the Gren will allow the car to drive with the driver door open with trailer hitched the other day. Someone obviously listened to the fact that it is. An occasional requirement for that when manoeuvring .
Once i unhitched I tested the open door trans lockout feature and it was back.

That's interesting, it also let's you do it in offroad mode. I've been sticking it in ORM when maneuvering round the yard etc, but will try normal with trailer plugged in!

They to rattle a little on the pins, I think of it as a reminder that the trailor is still there :)
My Defender rattles anyway so it's not a problem and the Hilux is so long that the rattle is so far away its attenuated by distance.

The ball coupler on a trailor is only held on with two, x-axis, M10 bolts, and they are not tight (circa 55NM),
The potential theif just removes it and fits a new one ...

Trailor security is (IMO) best with one of these ...

Yes but you can use tamper proof fixings for your two fastening bolts.
The theft story is anecdotal but not that far fetched. One story was apparently at a motorway services. Not sure if that was made up but it would be rather a shock to find you load missing after popping in for a spit and whistle.
I have seen a padlock safety chain on some trailer set ups which is probably a good solution.

You are right that the unit could be removed to steal a trailer by sliding the pins out, I generally don’t leave it with a trailer attached.

Thanks - good observation!

Today I spoke to my dealer about the height of the trailer hitch. He told me that a customer had fitted this Dixon Bate. However, it is not registered in Germany and therefore there is no insurance cover if it is used. Also, I had it mounted on the Defender (where it was registered) and it tore up the ground like a plough when driving over embankments.
The dealer has already spoken to INEOS. The answer was to use trailers where the drawbar is height adjustable. These trailers exist. But not with my car transport and livestock trailers. This means that I have to use my Disco 4 to pull these trailers. Great.
