I currently own 1998 300tdi 110 County, 1949 Series 1 80 lights behind grille, 1951 Series 1 80 lights through grille, 2 x 1964 Series 2a 88 (one ex military, one station wagon), 1981 Stage 1 V8 110 County (had Stage 1 V8 pick up and also another station wagon for a while). Only regularly use the 300 tdi and v occasionally the 1951. I got overly interested in the early LR for a while but have cooled and for the most part they now just stand in sheds (slowly rusting [further])

Bought a Brand new station wagon in 2001, sold it after 4 years. Probably the longest I have kept a vehicle in many years. Was it reliable - not particularly - but it had loads of character.

Had three LR’s

1987 110 Tintop 1 ton. 2.5 petrol with an LPG conversion.
2004 Freelander commercial, converted to four seat three door (very cheap)
2019 Discovery 5

All sold, I wasn’t going to own the discovery out of warranty.

I would have the 110 (not a defender in those days) back in a heartbeat. Now I am older and have a bit more cash and time, I would have loved to spend a bit of money on it and used it as a toy.

The other two you can keep.

Bushtech. Made in South Africa👍🏼

I know their stuff well. Good kit.

I can’t wait to see an Ineos QM with some similar or an RSI Smartcap. Think it might change my mind. I love pick-up but generally with a rear canaopy on them.

1971 Series III with a N/A BMC engine
1995 D90 300tdi
1994 D90 300tdi - current, rebuilt on a galvy chassis

All the older, more simple cars, no electronics. Characterful.
Front mounted winch, used to rescuer people from ditches, pull out trees and drag trunks around prior to cutting them up for firewood etc.
Spends about 40% of it's life offroad, not a car for a 300 mile round trip, well not a car the Mrs would be happy in :)
It tows the Ifor well enough though, even with 3 ton of wood in it.
Easy to work on.
Lave it.

I wanted one of those so badly, but they weren’t coming stateside. They were on sale the first time I went to the UK. I remember clearly the exchange rate was $1.44 to the pound. I so could have afforded one but alas. My best option at the time was a 96 NAS 90 with 60k on the clock and was beat to piss. LR Des Moines, Iowa was firm at $60 grand. Naturally I laughed and walked out.

Gotta luv a Landy.

Agreed. Right up to about 2016 for the defender. Anything else about 2010. After that you have really gotta luv LR.

A do have a massive soft spot for the discovery D3 and D4 and would still love to have a sorted D2 though.

If LR Time (Vera and hubby) were my neighbours then I would have bought one in a heartbeat.

Ex RAF defender 110, which I rebuilt and fitted with a IE Powertourque 2.8 TDI (probably the best one I owned , in some ways anyway)
110 TDCI 2.4
110 TDCI 2.2
Freelander 2 HSE
Discovery3 HSE
The freelander was the most reliable, the disco the least reliable. The 2.8 was such a good engine, its a shame you can’t get them anymore.

I currently still have a 2013 Defender, which will be shortly sold and have had 5x P38 RR and 2x L322 RR
Used to have an old series III back in the day.

The only LR I would own currently would be an L322 RR!
