You sir are correct. Mea culpa. I just went back and looked at what I entered into the convert site and I used 285 75 17. The 75 makes it 33.8.

Don't know if this helps, but on all my new vehicles I run a speed test using at least two sat navs (Garmin and TomTom).
So in the uk when the sat navs are dead on 70mph, the grenny's speedo fluctuates between 73 and 74 UK mph. This 3 to 4mph over read on the speed is constant from 20 mph upwards and is normal on most vehicles as the powers that be think its a safety feature!
My thinking is that a tyre with a larger circumference would actually make the speedo on the Grenny more accurate? :cool:

really wonder how much savings one might get from the stones to the bfg. humor me here. unless the IG is cast iron and the weight and tread of the tires won't matter, the stones should get better milage.

could you say up to 5 more? that savings will add up at the pump. do the math and get back to me on yearly savings. tell me you. can save almost 1000.

Do you mean an additional 5 MPG between the two tire options?

Yea, that front clearance isn’t confidence inspiring, and with some weight in it…

Maybe IG knows what they are doing

I'm sure that much would be optimistic. but there should be gas savings. there's so much that can contribute to increased/decreased mpg with tires. rims, tread, weight, size, etc, etc...... even something like air plays a part as well. a less aggressive tire with a light weight rim should improve fuel consumption.

There are several tyre manufacturers' references where they estimate 'aggressive' A/T and M/T treads increase fuel consumption by around 15% compared to a high efficiency H/T tread....

yup,...the savings (all be it ymmv) is more than people think.

At the German configurator you can see the impact of your configuration to the consumption. ATs bring it up by ,5 lite/100 km, second battery by ,1 and so on. It has a direct input in the taxes, so it is useful to know.
