Seat Mounting - Production Vehicles

Having spent some time this morning with my own Grenadier, I looked at the rear seat mounting points. I have a station wagon N1 class and therefore lose some rear leg room v the belstaff models. It is very clear that the rear mounting points have not been blanked over and have hex stud screws.
This will make the relocation of the rear seating a pretty simple task.

I‘ll add the upper ‘C’ pillar seat mountings shortly.

This is the cargo barrier which will be easy to remove and utilise the mounting slot to act as the new location for the rear seat upper catch. There will be some trim to move but it looks like push fit, so should be a challange.

Are there any trim issues with your vehicle as I have heard thats why there is a batch and hold on at the factory .
Interesting to hear your thoughts.

This photo shows the upper catch for the rear seat and the bottom bracket for the cargo barrier. The slots are interchangeable and I’m hoping the catch is just a simple hex screw so make the relocation easier.

I was very impressed with the trim. I took a video of me removing the rear footwell rubber floor. It exposed the drain plug and some wires. The trim inserts in to a nice slot and is well designed. I’ll be having rubber mats over them and general trim fit was excellent tbh.
I have to admit to having a big smile on my face knowing that I’m getting one and it’s A bloody awesome but of kit…. Sir Jim has got a winner in my opinion and the waiting is absolutely worth it..

my one is now at the dealer and I nipped to visit it earlier. It won’t be handed over until it’s had a software update..

excellent. so there's probably a good chance actual UK deliveries for within March (2023), they must be confident for software niggle to be resolved otherwise why ship to dealers.
All conjecture I know

Thanks for the posts! It looks like moving the rear bench seat backwards should be pretty straightforward, but is the floor trim specific to the commercial seat position i.e. will there be a 70mm gap once the seat is moved back?

I’ll have another look at my photos but I think the floor covering is universal for both derivatives

They ship, because there is no more space to stock cars in Hambach

The black bit of trip moves back with the seating mounting and I rest of the seating shroud stays put. It looked like it just slides back so I don’t think you’re going to see any difference and no trim gap. I’ll have another look when I get time.

Isn’t it funny how people have different needs.
I’ve been hoping when doing extended trips that with the trialmaster version you can bring the rear seats to the forward position, so that I can have more cargo room. Alternatively that I can remove the rear seat altogether without issues with airbags etc.

Are the seat belt latches anchored to the rear bench frame or to the floor via a long tether?

I didn’t get that far and it’d mean a bit of disassembly to find out if they’re mounted directly to the body or seat frame. The access will be pretty easy as they have not lashed in loads of trim that has to unpicked.

That’s me also. I’m also interested in removing the rear seats for extended travels.

I think there will be a few looking to move forward or take out the back seat all together for certain tasks/trips. Hopefully you aftermarket will produce some sort of floor cover to make it all look neat when it’s removed.

I bumped into a firm called Talos today who amongst other things “pimp” new defenders. I asked them if they are planning anything for the IG, apparently not. Which may be a good thing, having looked at their website and their prices. I thought around £10k for a set of wheels and tyres was highly reasonable
