Don't get fooled by this picture. It shows imho a Gun Metal Gray painting.

Which had sadly been cancelled.

They ran a batch of them out in white ~ I think they might have been PT2B & PT2Cs.

Side note the Sela Green really is better looking raw versus the website.

My choice of Sela Green sits better every day with me. Wonder if I can paint my study in the same colour, though reckon the FPO would have something to say about that.

RAW gives you better control, but it isn’t nessasarily a ‘better’ representation Straight out of the camera. It lets you correct and control more things.

Can’t sleep and just was looking around, don’t know if others have mentioned this.

For those of you lucky enough to have seen Grenadiers in the flesh, what is your impression of the paint? More specifically, how does it seem to hold up against scratches and will it respond to polishing to remove country pinstripes well?

Steve from Halliwell Jones says that quality of paint seems to improve on each model getting closer to production. The vehicles I have seen give me no cause for concern regarding quality of paint.
For me, it would have been nicer having a broader range of colours. The limited choice has still left me scratching my head on which to choose. At least four colours that I particularly like.

Ok, seriously, I don't know how tough the paint is, of course. But it will very much depend on the color how visible scratches will be. As a rule of thumb, I would venture to say that the darker the color, the more prone it is to visible scratches.

That was the reason I ordered sterling silver at first. Since my wife and son found it boring, I switched to Donny Grey, but that's another story.

So I still think sterling silver is the most appropriate color in terms of heat dissipation and resistance to dirt and scratches. And I think lighter colors are in general more forgiving than darker colors.

That’s really hard to tell if you didn’t go through bushes or an automatic washing machine during your test drive, this of course hasn’t been possible and would of course not be appropriate for any test drive.
The paint of the PTO2 cars seemed to me quite good. I didn’t see any real scratches. But that’s not very informative for us as they probably polished the cars before.
I think Steves statement as written above is the most secure statement you can find.
But the painting facility in the factory seems to be more than state of the art. So I do not worry at all!

I have indeed gone with silver for not only the reasons you’ve mentioned, but I like it too. I think silvers with black accents look nice. My current truck is a gun metal metallic and looks nice but a lighter shade will be a nice change.

I read somewhere, but now can't find it again, that the paint shop was being run/contracted out to Magna. Not sure why or if that makes any difference to the final paint quality.
