Windshield Wiper Issue

Old thread I know but my favorite treatment by far is PPG Aqualpel. You but it in these little applicators that your crack and wipe all over the windscreen. Then you buff it with a microfiber. Really works well but it is a pain in the a** to apply. Probably take 20 minutes to rub off the residual but man does it last and work.

Did a search bc I had a feeling this would be a common issue with the Grenny. Yesterday we got rain in AZ, my first time using wipers and holy hell are they just simply trash. I found a parts store bought the Icon Bosch 16" thought my OEM one were just bad from factory, hell no just the same.... It was coming down so bad on the I10 I pulled off and had to wait some of it to go by. I will be calling dealer up on Monday to see what we can do to resolve this. Putting coating on might work until it doesn't and I forget to apply it again and just accepting this normal is not safe if I can't see where I'm going. I could only wonder how bad that would have been at night in the rain.

Real question has anyone actually found a solve for this? As in no coating or a wiper that does work? Or as in was mentioned a spring for the arm? Is there anyone that does not have the chattering wipers?

Not sure how old your Gren is, but AZ sounds like a tough environment for rubber wipers. I’d look for silicone replacements. In the meantime clean your windscreen then wipe down the wipers with alcohol or acetone.

My Gren was built Sept. 2023, delivered Jan. 2024, and my wipers are good to go.

I have new ones on since yesterday during the rain. my windscreen was clean and used the cleaner spray which make the wipers work fine until it was wiped away. My was built in 2024.

As well decontaminating the windscreen with some clay. Change to 16 inch Denso Hybrid wipers. They are the best.

A clay bar often does an excellent job...👍
A tablespoon of mineral turps, plus 25% windscreen concentrate (1 to 3 with water) in a repurposed shower or laundry spray bottle, give it a good shake then apply generously to windscreen and scrub with a damp microfibre cloth. Wash off with water and squeegee /chamois dry. Will remove bugs, road grime etc and reduce chattering significantly. Clean wiper blades with solution and microfibre cloth.... Secret formula I've used for years...😉 Especially after prolonged dry weather spell when first rains loosen the buildup of tyre particles and other hydrocarbon fallout on the road surfacw... Besides, you can stow in a plastic bag ready for use, (along with all the other GVM allowance-eating "just in case " bits and pieces !)

Am I being thick? Why not just use a good propiortory market glass cleaner. I just use Autoglym glass cleaner ( available here in the UK) and does what it says on the bottle.

Dumb luck here, living in Vancouver. I've never "maintained" a windshield on any vehicle and my Grenadier wipers are good. They are used constantly. But we do get more rain here in a single autumn month than Phoenix gets in an entire year so I reckon wipers and glass never dry out or get hot enough here to need attention.

Sigh. I'll creep back to the "road salt and rust" thread now, where the AZ folks probably never tread... 🍻
