Windscreen wipers effectiveness

I’m quite content with my wipers. Today though, I noticed something for the first time. Has anyone else experienced this?

When my wipers are on the normal setting and I’m driving, they trundle along at a nice pace. When I stop at a light, however, their pace changes and they seem to be on a “delay” setting despite me not changing anything. Once I pull away from the light, they automatically return to their normal pace. I’ve never noticed this on any other vehicle.
Mine does the same. I think it’s pretty neat. They go from being on continuously when driving to being on intermittently when stopped. Good idea IMHO

I have been trying Denso (160-3116) wipers and can confirm that there is absolutely no skipping!! I have tried a few wipers and have always had skipping to a certain degree until now.

Wipers i have tried:
  1. Stock - absolutely terrible
  2. Rain-X 830116 Silicone Endura Wiper - These clean well with no streaks. But after a few months they started skipping almost as badly as the stock wipers.
  3. Bosh Icons (mentioned in another thread by @anand) - These also cleaned well and reduced the skipping by a substantial amount. However, the skipping issue was not completely resolved.
  4. Denso 160-3116 (mentioned by @Skydance) - After a few days of testing, i can confirm that there is no skipping. I hope it stays this way, there are some minor streaks but no more annoying skipping!!
With how upright the screen is. The windscreen gathers lots of contaminants and personally I clay mine (with spray) every once in while and the windscreen is like new again, silky smooth. Try this if you haven’t already. This will stop the skipping and streaking.

My right-side washer jet is working at 30% - it's not blocked, cannot seem to find a line fault... pump?

Washer jet needs replacing I suspect as mine did. You can’t clean them with a pin as you could with the old type.

Heard a few like this, mine too. It’s like a 60 year having p**ss. Worse is when your on a motorway and water can’t get to the top of the screen.

I suspect a pinched hose or joint connection issue. Not got round to dismantling the windscreen shroud and having a look.

The OEM Italian made Draco flat blade wipers don’t sit well on the windscreen properly. I see both ends deform hence the occasional dragging when there is light rain.

I opted for old school wipers with an aerodynamic casing, DENSO Hybrid 16 inch wipers. Old school wipers have the same pressure point along the wipers to suit all types of curved windscreens.
Hi @Skydance I'm just about to pull the trigger on a set of these: Is the part number you ordered (for a RH drive vehicle) #DU-040R?

Yes UK right hand drive. I bought two of the DU 040R and honestly they are the best. I gone through lots of wipers on my cars and the Michelin hybrid stealth from Costco and these are very similar but the Denso look more upscale.

Before I replace wiper blades, unless torn, I always rejuvenate them with a quick acetone wipe down. Can usually get another 4-6 months with this technique (especially if they are silicone).

Stupid question here but how do you get the OEM wiper blades off to install new ones?
Asking for a friend. Thx

I’m out of town until the weekend, I have to look how I got them off, but I remember it was easy.

I had severe skipping with my oem wiper blades. I replaced them with Bosch Icons (16A) a couple of weeks ago and they're working perfectly so far.
