Has anyone installed an OEM Winch (Red brand?) after receipt of their vehicle? I have a Trialmaster that is “winch ready” and am on the waitlist for a factory winch and just curious how difficult an install this will be.

I know I have the correct electrical package and have heard not having this is very expensive and problematic to retrofit to appear as OEM.

Also, if anyone has an OEM Red Winch they’d like to sell, I’d be interested, as the waitlist for these is indeterminate in length of wait and cost…

I know it means the electrical is the correct load, but I also understood it to mean that the wiring to behind the bumper was already in place. But not very sure exactly what that means myself.

Did the dealer tell you it was winch ready? AFAIK, you cannot add a winch without changing out your bumper. If you have the hi-load wiring option you should have the electrics (wire ends) but there is not a way to mount the winch as it stands.

I thought it fit in the standard bumper. Worst case, you should only only have to swap out the center section of the bumper, but I think the bumper is the same with or without the winch.

You'd probably want to get the heavier-rated springs in the front though so your front end doesn't sag.

Unless this "winch ready" really means something, it's not a walk in the park. I'm putting a GP factor integrated winch in and the install is 45 pages. It's not the worst thing but it's not simple either. Granted, some of the work is wiring and winch<->winch mount assembly.

I believe this is correct. That it is a mod to existing bumper. Verifying w/ Mossy (local Houston dealer) that this is the case and will update once I know.

I spoke to Mossy Ineos service (who are very good) and he said the fac5ory winch comes w/ a mod for the bumper. You just take out the mesh and insert the opening for rope. All wiring has been put in place for a “winch ready” Trialmaster. Not sure about other models.

Remember the Red Winch is a custom model made for the INEOS. A standard Red Winch will not fit.

It isn't anything Trialmaster specific; if you have the high amp switch panel option, you get a 500A relay in the passenger fender area for a winch connection...

If you don't have the high amp switch panel, you can wire a winch in the traditional way (where it has constant power) to the same approximate location.

Either way, adding a "factory" RED winch to a vehicle that did not come with it would require you to not only purchase the winch but also the factory bumper support/winch cradle.

Hmm, I wonder if you have the factory fitted front tow hitch receiver whether it will comes with the support and winch cradle already fitted.

The front tow hitch was stated specifically to not be for a winch (at least for the MY24 vehicles); and I'm 98% sure the bumper support is different entirely.

Good to know it is not Trialmaster specific for the group. I do have the high amp switch panel. Thought maybe that still required additional wiring if not “winch ready”, so sounds like that is the qualifier. Totally understand it has to be the factory Red winch. The factory winch apparently does come with the bumper support/winch cradle according to dealer. Here’s to hoping it is an easy install if/when they ever get here…

Any reason that drives you to use the factory RED winch instead of any of the aftermarket options?

Red Noland recently had a Red Winch in stock. They also had the solenoid controller. Long story, but I know this with complete certainty. Might be worth reaching out to them.

Did you happen to ask if they were also selling the front springs that would come with those that ordered winches from the factory? If you install the winch without them, expect your front end to drop a bit. I recently installed the OEM bumper and my front fenders are now about 1.5”-2” inches lower than my rear fenders. I’m not looking to lift my Grenadier, but I am interested in leveling it out a bit.

All those part numbers are in a separate thread here on the forum... Based on another member a few months ago, the springs were around $100USD/ea

I keep meaning to order an uprated set of OEM front and rear springs for my truck but it isn't a huge deal.

The OEM winch springs won't move your vehicle up very much (maybe ~10-12mm of sag with the OEM winch added to non-winch OEM springs)

So to help level (not raise) my Grenadier with the OEM bull bar, do you think Eibach's Pro-Lift-Kit that adds 1.2" front and 0" rear would be a better choice? Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread on the OEM Red Winch...

Something along those lines (as far as lift amount) would mos tlikely level it
