Unfortunately I don't have a "spare" gromet. There are 3 that I have found on the LHS running through the firewall (RHD Trialmaster):
  1. Top one is for the drain pipe for the Safari window
  2. Second is for the bonnet release. It is poorly mounted as it is "high" on the "outside" so water that is thrown up into the engine compartment will run down the release cable, into the footwell, behind the footwell covering. Poor design
  3. The third has a cable running through it already.

Any other thoughts?

Shortwave is ok.
But why you did install 2m and 70cm?
Here in Germany 2m and 70cm are dead, there is more (interesting) traffic on PMR or CB.
We have a good bunch of hams on 2/70 near me and often using repeaters too. In addition the radio has digital modes which I can use to link worldwide if I want to. I usually use HF however. I also have CB available too.

I think that's all about how it's been installed over the top of the bracket, where it looks like it should be below it.

For extra grommets look under the scuttle panel:

Completely agree. I might look at trying to re-route that myself.

Will have a look and see what I can find.
