What did you do with your Grenadier today?

I went a little different direction with seat covers. Knightsbridge Overland "tactical" covers. More molle, for more organization/storage options.

I went the way of the cracked windshield thread and installed the rubber trim. Took about 10min.

Here’s what I bought:

Wiped the edge of the windshield edge with alchohol and just started on one side by the top factory rubber trim and worked it down and around the bottom corners (it shapes itself without cutting). I happened to start on the RAI side and ended on the driver side. If you zoom in, I could have finished it closer to the OEM trim by the roof gutter, oh well😂😂

IMO it looks factory and was cheap enough that it was worth a try to prevent a cracked windshield. There's also enough left over to do another windshield.

Maybe I missed it... how does this prevent a cracked windscreen?

Theory is that if an object (ie: rock) hits the exposed edge, it could lead to a crack because many cracks seem to start from the bottom unprotected edge🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

In my case it was a mining roadtrain traveling along the Silver City Highway towards Broken Hill that scared me. A narrow road, a cross wind, 100kph zone, the roadtrain all higgledy-piggledy coming the opposite way with less than a metre's space between it and my car. The trailers were moving more than a metre sideways!

After my high speed head on car crash, in the Nissan Patrol, I could not deal with that again. I just pull over, even on duel carriage ways.
Hope you get through cyclone Alfred ok, same to all you mob in SE Queensland and northern NSW.

Yelarbon Silos - Outback Queensland trip (a little less Outback here)

On the first day heading back to home, I passed through Yelarbon located on the Cunningham Highway heading towards Goondiwindi on the New South Wales and Queensland borders. The Doc was actually staying on the NSW side at Bogabilla. Just gotta love some of these town names. I stayed a few nights at Bogabilla visiting the Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens.

The Yelarbon Silos are part of the extraordinary Australian Silo Art Trail. That link is where to see amazing photos. It was poor light when I passed through Yelarbon, so the photos not great.

Doc rather than posting these past traveling stories in the What did you do today thread, you should start your own travels thread so they don’t get lost in the day to day.

Tried out the new roof top tent setup for the first time today on my Trialmaster diesel station wagon with safari windows.

Autohome airtop in medium size.
GrenX 3/4 roof rack using rhinorack pioneer platform.

Just one word. NICE. 😊 and the windows still open !! Yayy.

Can’t wait for the humidity to settle a little more up here in the tropics (31C daytime, 28C at night, and humidity close to 100% today) and start rooftop Aussie adventuring !!!
