Nudging the range and accuracy limit here, but still only 2/10 on the @Jean Mercier 'sucking fumes' scale.

For diesel owners - there is a coolant hose running along the RHS (PS) of the engine that is unsupported and a bit floppy. Potentially, this could be a problem if you are a regular user of corrugated roads.

Courtesy of the technical officer at the Ineos 4x4 Club of Victoria who put me on to this I managed to knock up a simple bracket and using a 16mm P clip, made the hose a little less floppy.
Nice one @Znarfgh
I saw someone post about that floppy hose recently and bashed out my own quick fix.
In the words of hardy DIY men everywhere: "That ain't going anywhere"

I think all of us can appreciate what an honour it is to be left unescorted in a mans shed. I only dread the day when some other man rummage around in my shed and my wife sells my things for what i told her i paid for them .

At least if it is someone like minded they can take some pride and care in distributing a lifelong of tools accumulated !!

good luck my friend to the both of you .
I did a 350km (~220 mile) round trip in my Grenadier today to visit a 79yo friend who is two years into a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease; also called ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease. He has read the Grenadier story and wanted to know all about it. Unfortunately his condition has deteriorated to a point where he is unable to leave his elevated house to go for a ride.
He is a self-taught engineer, toolmaker, welder and mechanic. A talented inventive man who is known as a go-to for solutions to tough engineering problems. If he doesn't have a required tool or jig he'll make one. He is one of those irreplaceable old-school guys that everyone wants to know if they have a curly problem to solve.

His long term automotive project was restoring a Mk 8 Davrian fibreglass tubbed sports car built in the UK in the early '70s. Older UK guys might remember the Davrian. They had a bit of a cult following. A bit like the Delorean but on a smaller production scale. He got as far as fabricating and fitting a new chrome-moly engine sub-frame to bolt up a Toyota 4A-GZE supercharged 1600cc engine picked from a wrecked MR2, plus fabricated new trailing arm suspension with coil overs. All before his failing health stopped him from making trips to his beloved shed. The Dav' will not get finished.

I finally got agreement from him today to let me go into his shed unescorted (!!) to do an inventory and photo catalogue of his tools, parts and materials so he and his family can commence an estate sale. Until today he was resisting this in the hope he might hang on long enough to get some more time to work on his many projects. A emotional day today to again face his mortality and approaching fate, but also a relief that someone like-minded has stepped up to help his wife and daughters deal with "the shed problem".
He told me today that he cannot afford to waste a single day because he doesn't have many left. His speech will go soon and then communication becomes harder. His voice has been recorded and digitally synthesized in preparation for this stage.

My work is definately cut out for me over the next few weeks. He has a LOT of stuff, but it will be personally rewarding to help this talented man in a way that his family and carer team can't. I'm fortunate to be on an extended voluntary work break (I'm not ready to say I'm retired) so I have plenty of time to help.

The Grenadier connection? It's a bit tenuous but it will do some runs to the dump and metal recyclers as part of a shed cleanup.

Thanks @Tinki. Life is great until it isn't.

On the emasculation scale gaining shed access is one step above taking over a man's BBQ tongs while he's doing the flipping.

Good luck to you and of course to your friend. Been through it a few times and it doesn't get easier. Honestly not sure who suffers more at times.

I about 5 years into cleaning/organizing my dad's tools for the same reason you are doing. Luckily, they are all in my basement and not at my mom's house even though she lives less than 5 miles away.

The strap on rear view mirror was a pain and had no adjustment because of the airbag warning protrusion on the overhead switch panel. A bit of research, a few bits and I am now happy.

I ordered some differential and underbody protection plates at AlMont Spain on January 5. They arrived today. I will not mount them that soon, because it is cold and I have not decided yet when I take a break with my Grenadier to travel on 4x4 suitable tracks, but perhaps in March. Very well packed. 1442 euro.

I've been up to 22.7 or 22.8 freedom gallons; probably 40 or 50 miles (64-80 non-freedom distance units) on - - - -

Ditto. Also a number of +80 Litre fills as well, best being 85l.

I recall querying the standard tank capacity with the Bris. Service Manager in late 2023.

He said that based on comments from customers, he thought that the stated 90 litres capacity is a nominal figure and the actual volume is "somewhat" more. How much "more" he hadn't determined.
Guess it needs a complete drain and calibrated refill....
Anyone??

My approach to this question is to put a 20 liter Jerry can in the rig. Drive until it the tank is completed drained and the engine stops. Add the 20 liters and then immediately head to a fuel station and fill it up. The 20 liters plus the amount added at the fuel station is the capacity of the tank, minus a liter or two depending on how far away the fuel station was. Best to do this in an urban environment so the nearest fuel is not more than 10 kilometers away. That said, it can be a tad stressful as you don't know exactly when the tank will run dry so you might be in the middle of a major intersection which will make for some very unhappy drivers while you empty the Jerry as fast as possible. The alternative is to load up with 5 Jerries (100 liters) and drive it until empty in the middle of nowhere. Then you can leisurely empty the Jerries into the tank and get an exact count on the fill. Just measure what is left in the 5th partially empty Jerry when you get home. But this also is not fool proof in that you can completely overflow the tank with the 5th Jerry if you are not careful.

You guys are overpaid. I can't afford an 80+ litre (equivalent) refuel. The best I can do is two 40+ litre refuels :geek:.
