I didn't see another thread so I wanted to ask if anyone had an idea of the weight limit on spare tire carrier? I'm actually less concerned about the tire and wheel combo than the fact that I often use it as a step getting onto the roof. It seems rock solid, like everything on my Grenadier except for the headliner, but I also don't want to be bending bolts or other metal without knowing about it. Any thoughts?

There is a weight limit on the rear 2/3 door, so ask your dealer what it is. Someone else may know it on the forum, because there is a new bracket on the market from Razed. I would probably use that bracket on a third party rear bumper setup.

I can't find anything but i personally wouldn't swing anything other than a wheelie bin bag off the wheel, after nearly 5000klms on dirt and corrugations the door needs adjusting (we had a bin bag on the back). Fortunately it's not a Troopy door as those are due for replacement after 200k klms

I also step on it occasionally , but not my entire weight.
I would be more concerned about attaching an excessive load and subjecting it to severe corrugations.
The mount is almost certainly overengineered.

I recall that somewhere the static load on a closed door (all 6 doors) was 120 -150kg. The smaller rear door has a 150kg max. static load on the ladder.
The spare wheel retention assembly bolts into a very sizeable aluminium casting which anchors/braces the door structure. I rarely climb on the roof, but at 77kg I have no qualms about using the spare tyre as a climbing aid as described...
