The problem with my wolf box is that in the Grenadier you have to mount the camera to the top of the rear window in the bigger swing out door. The housing that you screw the camera into has a tendency over time to become loose due to the opening and shutting of that rear door. You then have to retighten the screws which is no big deal, but annoying and there must be a better way to mount that camera. I have a WB 200

I have the G900.

It is a great product but a few minor (i think) upgrade changes.

  • Better wire management. Possible out the back of the unit.
  • Memory card location. Any spot is better than on top. Out the back would even be better. My mirror is as far up as possible and accessing the card requires me to move the mirror. Or use a paper clip to eject it.
  • Factory mount. While the 67 Designs solution is nice, I am sure other potential customers might decide against because of the price. Rubber straps are fine for those that are wondering.
  • Rear camera extension wire. Maybe it is already available, and I didn't notice it but if I ran the camera wire from front to back having an extra 5 feet would make install easier maybe.
  • Shorter GPS wire. My GPS antenace is attached to the back of the mirror. I do not see it and it works but the coil of wire could be a pain.
  • Instead of a mirror how about a monitor with camera connections. This way users can keep their mirror but still have a bigger screen.

Extremely happy with the product.
Thank you sir, some of these were mentioned by others. Noted!

Hi, as others have said wire management out the back vice the top, wifi pop up is annoying. would like a second camera option or on the rear camera that could flip to interior view for when the pups are riding in the back. The 67 design mount is great but it's almost as much as the mirror.
The wifi pop up will solved in next firmware update. We have a 3-channel dash cam, X5, which has a cabin cam.

I am planning to have a G900 Pro installed on a Quartermaster using the 67 Designs base. With the canvas cover mounted, when driving forward rear view relies on the side mirrors which may provide very limited rear view in heavy rain. Installation of the Wolfbox rear camera is likely to require some drilling next to the factory rear camera (on the rear bumber below the EU sized number plate, camera view will be impaired by the trailer hitch; on the bumber above the number plate the camera might interfere with the tailgate opening depending on the exact measurements of the new rear camera model that comes with the G900 Pro package).

The issue is, there is almost zero likelihood that some guy in some shop has ever seen a Grenadier before, let alone knows that and where pre-installed Int 1 or 2 cables run etc., let alone has access to a wiring plan etc. In some YT video it looks like a 30 minute job - but then, there are more than one wiring recommendations arguably not all of which are ideal.

- I am still looking for a shop in Germany, ideally greater Munich area that has already wired a Wolfbox in a Grenadier, any recommendation or hint would be greatly appreciated? Will be happy to share my experience afterwards.

- Wouldn’t it be helpful generally to have one authorative installation guide, why not by Wolfbox (who could add disclaimers if deemed necessary)?
This might work for you, with slight modification to your plate.

900 Pro still not available in Australia so I haven’t ordered the 900 yet.
I figure there’s no point ordering the old version yet if the better version is “imminent”……….

Biggest “reason for not buying” I have to get my head around is not being able to toggle between two rear cameras - one in the grenny and one at the back of the van.

Wondering if you could install a second wolfbox camera on the van and the swap cameras via a cable switch somehow?

Otherwise others are suggesting Safety Dave might be an option…..
The 900 Pro should by available on our AU website in March.

You can buy an additional rear cam to mount it on your van. Either do the plug-in and out, or DIY a switch panel.

See if this helps

G900 Pro Installation Video! Definitely Helps!

Thank you very much for this, I did indeed order the extended kit that includes the plate bracket. Will need to wait for delivery though to take actual measurements - quite possibly the bracket will not be wide enough for EU sized number plates, and when using the bracket there might not be enough distance above the camera for the tailgate to open. (If the camera obstructs the view on the number plate, this would be a regulatory offense and making modifications to the number plate could even be a criminal offense in Germany.)

Thank you very much for this, this is indeed the video I was referring to. While I do find it very helpful, for someone who has never worked on a Grenadier before it might not replace a written, illustrated step-by-step installation guide (e.g., I believe it shows the opened roof panel but not how to open it). Users could have an English language installation guide translated into any of their native languages, easily and at their own risk.

Enjoying the benefits of the G900 Pro which we got very familiar with in a just-completed 1,500 mile road trip after our installation. The software update definitely helped with some of the bugs and added features.

Unless I have missed it, there doesn't appear to be a way to toggle off the blinking record "light" and other always on display items. It would be nice to be able to have everything fully functional while having a completely clean display. Also agree with a previous post lamenting the need to frequently tighten the rear camera's pivot screw. That setup could be more robust. All that said, an impressive product from our use thus far.

Thank you my friend! Noted.

As mentioned on the other thread with the installation video, you don't need to access the overhead panel. The OBD fuse gives you a permanent live.

For the rear camera, I used a 3m sticky pad to stop the camera dropping lower every time I closed the door. A small sized pad cant be seen and it has worked well for me.

Got a few software glitches at the moment. I seem to hear camera sound from the mirror a bit too often. And the pop up saying I need to reformat the sdcard comes up occasionally along the box telling me to connect to wifi. However, apart from those, its a great upgrade.

I do have to update the firmware but just today within the first 40 minutes of my drive the WiFi turned on/off 3 times! The setting is turned off yet it doesn’t matter…So frustrating since this screen stays on for approx. 3 minutes or so and completely blocks the rear view as it is in the center of the screen.

Our engineers are working on this. This issue should be solved by the next firmware update.

@WolfBox

I now have 6 months or so of usage of your product. I have the original non-wifi version with the SD card. The best stuff I could buy 6 months ago....

I really, really think that there needs to be a separate day mode vs night mode.
The mirror is too lit up at night if I set it to the right light level during the day.
It should use it's camera sensor to determine if it's night or a tunnel and change the light level on the display to a preset percentage vs day mode.

I think this would make the mirror perfect.

Thanks, sir! I'll pass this to our engineers.

I had installed by the Dealer my Wolfbox G900, After getting the truck home I found that there was a G900 Pro. I ordered it and it was just plug and play, using the same wiring. This is my issue. The Dealer installed the rear camera on the rear tiny left door window. Everything is clear and great with one exception. When I go into reverse the back up lines are off by 12-18" since the camera is not closer to the center. If you follow these lines you will have damage and probable damage other property. Can you look for an fix/upgrade the software to drag the reverse lines into a proper position? This would male the G900 Pro stand out over the competition.

I totally agree with you on the day/night settings.
I was out a couple of hours ago and its a bright sunny day. The brightness on the mirror (900 pro) is not enough for the level of sunshine but if I adjust the settings to be make it brighter, it will be too bright during the night. So, you effectively have a compromise setting that covers both day and night but is not optimal with either.

A dedicated light sensor on a future model would possibly help (or even use the image from the camera to determine the light level) but a time-activated switchover between night and day settings would be a useful software only way of doing it.

@WolfBox if I may be so bold to suggest that you let the user setup day mode and night mode individually, or set up night mode as a user selected percentage of day mode.

Implementation wise I think it's easy to average the exposure over let's say 30 seconds. Once the exposure level is below a certain threshold switch to night mode. Once the exposure is over a certain threshold switch to day mode. I would use the front camera to determine this. Your engineers are already reading the sensor gain to get the exposure right so the signal must be available to the had unit.

On the display menu I would just have two sliders, one for night and one for day. If you really had to you could make a third slider, at what percentage of day light the display would switch over to night mode.

I prefer this over time based settings since in the north the evening hours change so much depending on which day it is in the year. But if that is only what is available then I would take that.
