Was at the dealer today to get a bit of work done. Spotted a Gren there with it's plastic fron bumper off giving a much clearer view of the lower rads on either side of the vehicle.
As we know the UK (euro) spec rads are not supported by means of the OEM strut and a couple of forum members have suffered one of them coming loose out of the top bracket when driving on corrugated roads in Africa.
The problem is the vertical vibrations meaning that the rads can jump out of their rubber grommeted pins of the top retaining bracket.
@Logsplitter managed to jury rig his until got to a dealer and had the lower struts pinched from a donor ROW spec vehicle. His struts appear to have been attached to the lower part of the large steel front member/bumper which the UK plastic bumper attached to. A bolt or nut was welded on. Whereas the ROW models have a different lower bracket with a fixing that the strut bolts to, perhaps a captive nut.
So for those that are interested the solution is to try and get both the struts and the lower brackets from a UK dealer, whether this is possible I don't know. I am still awaiting for a reply from Adventure Automotive, Oxford. It is not known whether the lower brackets of the rads will fit on to our plastic bumper models, I am willing to give it a whirl. If not then we weld a fixing on a la Logsplitter's mod.
There was a very valuable post from @CountyV8 with CAD screenshot of the Ineos parts and prices on the 'Stuck In Namibia' post. Will try and attach here.
Note that the rads left and right differ in size and the top brackets are different, whether this is the same for the lower brackets and/or strut I'm not certain.
I for one would like this mod asap.
