I will add each month figures once the statistics are released. The figures are from the SMMT website and is for INEOS, which means Quartermasters will be part of the sales figures.

Out of interest BYD sold more than Subaru - beware of the Chinaman! :)

In January 2024 – 24 vehicles sold.
In February 2024 – 8 vehicles were sold.
In March 2024 – 38 vehicle were sold (M1)
In March 2024 - 34 vehicles were sold (N1)

Summary - M1 sales to date: 70
Summary - N1 sales to date: 90
Total in 2024: 160

They are very small numbers.
I assume they are registered/delivered numbers rather than sold numbers.
UK had pretty low allowed sales numbers 4,500???? per year max I think.

One of the dealers here I was talking to in February had over 30 vehicles going out
That was just one of the 32 dealers.

I didn't include the 2023 sales: In 2023 according to Autocar – 841 vehicles have been sold.

I personally believe the recent price hike, interest rates, negative media comments and specialist nature of the vehicle has reduced sales in the UK.

I like you was led to believe the sales would be greater - could be early days.

UK is allowed 10,000 units, Grenadier, 1700 category M1 ( Fieldmaster and Trialmaster) the balance N1 commercial

Is that right🤔. I thought it was 6000 of which 1700 station wagons and 4300 commercial versions.
I can’t find it but I posted a column from I think What Car magazine a year or so ago.

Another point of contention for UK buyers is clawing back the VAT. There was assumption the N1 would get their VAT back but it did not qualify

You have got me thinking now, your 6000 may be right.

Addendum, yes 6000 is more like it.

Gut feel - they are light based on the number I’ve seen at my local agent and on the road this year. Seen two 24 plates locally last month, unless I’m in an Ineos hotspot!

I think DVLA can be flaky when the data is recorded using the old postal system which I suspect Ineos have to use being new and low volume niche.
If the numbers are right it doesn’t bode well for overall UK sales and Ineos Automotive longevity here.

I could never really see the UK being a huge market for them.
More a nostalgia purchase from old Landrover owners.

Jon - I agree, I would like to be able to cross check the published figures. I think we have 22 retailers and if the SMMT figures are to be believed, 22 cannot be sustained.

Not for me, my last 4x4 was an X5 M50D, before that a Towrag. I admit, it was an impulse purchase, and it was this or an F-Pace SVR. The Gren won and I have thought about the other choice a time or two. THOUGHT.

You sound like the type of owner who thinks with their heart more than their head.
Tend to do exactly the same thing myself.

That's unbelievably low sales figures. There's currently 120 for sale on Auto trader UK with some big discounts on new cars. I wonder if any car brand managed to sell less cars than Ineos. The UK press have been fairly savage which must have been damaging. Shame 😕

Even if those figures are light, at this rate the amount of IA main dealers will be shrinking over the next 12-24 months for sure.
You do have a lot of dealers for such a tiny little country
You have the same number as we have in Australia, and although you have a much larger population with around 2.3 times as many people, it does seem fairly excessive for the very limited number you are allowed to sell each year.

That graphic is incredible. Didn’t realise Britain was so small in comparison.

In my view, many of those for sale on AutoTrader are not well enough specced for our market. UK still has a preference for diesel when it comes to large SUV’s so that takes a third or more out of the general equation. With steel rear panels instead of glass, they can look too much of a commercial proposition. Lack of F/R diff locks and high output overhead panels reduce the choice further. It doesn’t take me very long to get down to a dozen serious contenders all costing close to or more than the early bird price I paid.
Thankfully I have no intention of selling in the foreseeable future so, insurance permitting, not an issue.

This site is fun to play with
The Mercator projection used on 2D maps makes everything in the northern hemisphere look much larger than places in the southern hemisphere.
This is the mainland united states in true comparison against mainland Australia and Alaska compared to the state of Western Australia
