I have a UK Trialmaster on factory 18" wheels, I've tried 17"Braid Alloys on it with General Grabber 295/70 tyres ( around 33" Diameter

), very noisy when slowing to a standstil and on road handling deteriorates quite a lot
Any other brand 17" Tyre recommendations please?

I don't think anyone would consider the Grabber X3 to be a fantastic on road tire, as any aggressive mud terrain like the X3 (or BFG KM3, Yokohama G003, etc) will degrade your on road handling in lieu of off road capability.

If your usage (or concerns) is mostly on road handling/noise, I would suggest a less aggressive all-terrain tire. These aren't super popular in 295/70/17 though. I'm not certain what all is readily available in the UK, but here in the US in that size I'd probably recommend (in order of best fit to least): Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT, Hankook Dynapro AT2, BFG KO2.

If you're willing to shift to 285/70/17 it would add the Yoko Geolandar G015, Michelin LTX A/T2, and Bridgestone Dueler A/T

Many thanks for your recommendations, Braid Alloys look much better than the 18" steels but not the cost of other issues I've had with the Grabber Tyres.

If you want to stay with Grabber, go for the less aggressive AT3
