Hi All,
As we know the Grenadier towing electrics are set up as the Continental way that doesn’t have a live feed for a caravan fridge.
My Dealer offered to do this work but today I called in to the guy who does my towball and electrics to see if he could do this as we are going away with the caravan before mine goes back to the dealership next.
Has anyone worked out where to take a live positive feed from to wire into the electrics socket so that the caravan fridge will operate correctly?
I would very much appreciate knowing from anyone who has managed to achieve this!
Thanks in anticipation,
John

In Australia we normally run a separate 50 amp Anderson circuit from the car's battery to the caravan, and the caravan fridge is powered by that. So two cables are plugged in being the towing electrics and the Anderson power. I had my Grenadier wired this way, but that does not help you with socket power.

It can be an alternative if the other way does not work.

Thanks, over here in the UK it is normal that the caravan fridge takes its power during travelling from the multi pin socket. Thanks, John

John,

Did you get anywhere with IG sorting this out for you?

I've just raised a ticket with them for the same as the dealer here has quoted £600 + vat to upgrade to the fully operational plug.

My local and very good tow bar man did the electrics, a perfect, immaculate and neat job too for about £150. All good now!

I don't know anything about caravans and caravaning but when I mentioned the omission of ignition power to pin 10, I was informed ( and to be fair I wasn't paying much attention since I only tow trailers) so I hope it makes sense to you.
" the modern thinking on fridges when towing is the permanent live is used and controlled by the " habitation" switch within the caravan, ehat ever that is.
Hope you can make sense of that and perhaps explains the deliberate omission by Ineos

To be fair to Ineos, as I understand it, on the Continent they don’t run with caravan fridges operating, it is a British “thing”! 😀

Regarding the missing pins on the plug.
IG got back to the service centre and said there is no immediate solution but an accessory pack to fix this is in development and will be available soooon!

I shan't hold my breath.
