Hi, how many km are there during your original equipment bfg at ko2?
I got to 18,000 km but now in the wet they don't hold well anymore.

Unfortunately it's not news that the bfg tires soon stop gripping well on wet surfaces but I was hoping for better given that the tread seems new.

I would like to mount the cooper st-maxx like I had in the defender but I don't think they are available. Has anyone mounted them?

I love the ST/Maxx. It is on my list but I may go for a more modern R/T pattern tire. I’ve only got 5k on my stock ‘Stones, so it will be a while before I look at tires.

Could not follow this experience, around 20.000km driven and no difference to new tires. Just solved 5000 km Germany, Montenegro, Albania and back. And a lot of wet conditions on tarmac….. and offroad too

Apparently the KO3's are much better. KO2s have a reputation for weak performance in the wet. Cooper ST Maxx is my favourite tyre.

When I got mine, the first thing I did was take to my tire guy for a wheel alignment...

And he said " these tires will go about 20,000 Km before they start to get slippy...."

I was hoping he was wrong .....

I'm at 25000km on K02 and have no issues at all with these tyres so far. A little wear on the outer front tyres from pushing through and out of roundabouts abs the cruddy general road conditions in QLD - but you get that!!!

I was wondering that and I actually had to check my stock was KO2!!!

K02's in my view are slippy from the start. Nothing against them as they are my go to AT tyre. KM3's similar from the start and with no surprise worse in the wet.
They may go off a bit in terms of grip and noise as they wear but can't say I'd expect anything less. I just drive like miss daisy if wet.

today i stopped by a shop specializing in off-road vehicles to ask for info on a new set of tires.
they had some cooper st-maxx on display but for the grendier they raised two objections:
- speed index Q too low (but if the car is limited to 160km/h why did they put tires with an S index of 180km/h in the booklet???)
- they are M+S but do not have the snow flakes symbol. they told me that soon tires marked only M+S will be considered summer.

but in the end, apart from BFG what other tires are you mounting???

I’m looking at Toyo Tire, either M/T or R/T Trail. Their A/T III has the snow flake rating but I am not a fan of A/T’s in mud.

My Toyo Open Country last for 40,000 km maximum. Then it is really a pain to drive them. The car vibrates, they are loud and on wet&bad roads they do not perform well. But that's ok and I know it, it is the kind of tyre and tread design. I have used them for many years, now.

As we are now partnering with Maxxis I'll get the Creepy Crawler on 11-04-2024.....I'm curious how the will perform.

This is what I’m going with next too. It almost seems like it should have been factory to use a heavy duty “commercial” tire like this on this overbuilt vehicle just like a lot of other parts.

Leaning more towards 285/70r17 but also considering the 255/80r17

Re "Heavy Duty" I would suggest a Toyo M-55 All Terrain. I've run them for years - they wear like iron, are $$$ but perform well in all conditions (including highway) IMO.

We have the 315s, nice thing its the same as the Power Wagon I have.
