Thoughts on the OEM security lug nuts

Any thoughts on the security lug nuts from Ineos or indeed the quality of the stock plain lug nuts? My Grenadier came with the security nuts installed on the 18” alloys but they appear to stick out too far compared to the plain lug nuts to my eye. I have since replaced them with the regular stock lug nuts but I’ve also seen them installed on the 17” steel wheels and they look even more out of place and perhaps vulnerable to impacts off-road. I know Agile OR offers a full set of splined lug nuts, which is fine for those who want the blacked out look, but curious what others have found in terms of an upgrade?

I bought the agile ones and installed them a week ago. My issue is I once had a locking nut get broken on the trail and I couldn't get the wheel off. I'd rather live with the idea someone may steel my steel wheels than the idea of getting stuck on a trail again. Then again I have steel wheels, I might feel different if I had Methods on there.

My thoughts... You can buy a locking wheel nut removing tool set for about £18, so $20 or so which will get those standard locking nuts off in seconds.
Top quality locking nuts from such as McGuard are almost impossible to remove without destroying the wheels.

In some video I watched, a guy made the point that the locking lug was stupid, all it did was make it easier for a thief to use a hammer to break the lock and stud off the hub. When I had a new GMC AT4, I came out to find it on blocks in my driveway and below each hub was a nice pile of lug nuts, including the factory locking lug without a scratch on it, so not much faith in locks.

I agree, I’m not a big fan of the locking lugs either. Seems like anyone determined enough will find a way through them and nick your wheels. That said, I would like to find a nicer looking full set of lug nuts as the OEM ones look oddly worn as if they’ve been taken off and on 30 times already with an old socket wrench?

It's been a few years, but in my case, they just broke the window, and ransacked the car until they found the key for the lugs. Nothing like working all night, and finding your car on blocks in the supposedly "secured" employee parking lot, I won't spend money on locking lugs again.

Before delivery I required changing of the standard alloys to steel rims and also asked to change locking nuts to standars ones. The locking nuts will some day cause a problem.
