Thinking of buying a new Grenadier...

Im considering buying a "new" 2024 Grenadier off the lot....I've tried to do as much research as possible, and seems like most issues are pretty minor (eletrical gremlins seem to be the biggest?)....but wanted to at least get some honest feedback from current owners. This vehicle would essentially be a daily driver (only 4-5 miles per day) and mostly used as a beach vehicle - not really any major off-road / trail type driving....I have 2 dealers, but both are around 3 hours away....would this turn any one off from wanting to buy one?

I know they require service once per year....but I cant find any other "maintenance schedule" online....will most shops work on these as far as replacing brakes, tires, etc etc...or is it pretty much all done through INEOS dealers?

Long story short - would you purchase one if its mainly just being used as a DD and for the "unique / cool" factor....or stay away due to many unknowns (like if they will even be a company in 5+ years)

Thanks for any insight.

I think you will find that the majority of owners here would certainly endorse a purchase for anyone thats interested. DD or not.

Love it.. only issue is annoying click for ADAS, but that should be addressed just as 25’s roll out.

Love everything and do not miss my once loved Adaptive CC.

Maybe do some more reading on this forum
To answer one of your questions, no other workshop can reset the service interval so it needs to go back to Ineos for that if nothing else
I am in the same boat as you, I want one, it wouldn’t be daily drive though.
The issues stopping me at this stage are, service availability, no promised manuals, water leaks, air conditioning and heating issues and the front drive shaft issue as I would need a small lift for what I would use it for
The electrical and oil leak gremlins could deal with but added to the other niggles would take all the joy out of spending 100k
Remember owners on car specific forums can be very biased when it comes to overall ownership experience, have seen it on all specific make forums

Maintenance schedule is in the Owners Manual. In kilometers first major service is 15,000km or 12 months.

Problems are often overstated, but a few have had some concerning issues. Owners like @Logsplitter and @globalgregors have tested them brutally off road with great results.

For most users the Rok Dr Guide gives you more than enough information on the car, together with this forum.

I have zero electrical gremlins, but I do not have ADAS (thankfully).

If the air con acts strangely I put it in full auto mode and 10s seconds later change it to what I need, everything seems OK then. It seems full auto resets the system in my car (AU spec car).

I have done over 22,000km in my car. Both city and remote travel. A really good car.

My dealer is 2 1/2 hours away. I’ve had local (Madison WI) set up new wheels and winter tires, set up TPMS on the winter tires, set up a new steering damper - and the dealer was just for door seals, the annual maintenance, and setting up my nose wrap and Exoshield. They also did a SW update (I had the refuel warning issue).

Thanks for the info....my next question Im struggling with - I can purchase a used 2024 Fieldmaster off the lot with 3,000 miles (MSRP looks like it was probably around $85k without tags, taxes, etc in the USA)...so probably close to $87-$88k if they paid for MSRP....and they are asking $75k (USD)...but would lose 1 year of warranty since the last owner purchased in March 2023

Or - would it be better to buy a brand new 2024 off the lot - base station wagon - and with incentives, etc I can get around $74k out the door - full new warranty, but will have to add the rear ladder and side steps (which I would like)

The used Fieldmaster "seems" like a good deal....just not sure if its smarter to buy new and get a full 5 year warranty, or go with one that has a few more options already, but 3,000...

Slightly nervous about the Fieldmaster Safari windows since people report that some of them leak?

Check the build date. MY24 basically covers July 2023 (possibly earlier) onwards. However, over that period, the factory line has integrated fixes to issues and improved build quality. Some dealers have sent out early MY24s without fixing known issues.

I have a July 2024 build and it has suffered two known faults that are awaiting Ineos approval and instructions to fix. 1) rear parking sensors beeping when no obstruction 2) Intermittent clicking noise from cubby when very cold outside and heating on high - believed to be a HVAC mixer flap flapping away. Ironically, one of the dealer's new Quartermaster models was also doing it. A July 2024 build wouldn't have many of the early build issues. So, check your build dates to get an idea of whether yours is more or less likely to suffer early build issues.

No issues there for me.

Mine is an equestrian working vehicle (towing horses and muck trailers. Putting bails and feeds in the back etc). It is also lifestyle as we take the dogs out with it, have picnics with the awning out. Power sockets used for fridge and kettle and it forms daily use for many other things. If go back in time, you had the old Land Rover Defender and the Range Rover. They introduced the Discovery as the model in between the two. The D1 and the D2 certainly met that role before they sent the Discovery upmarket. The IG, for me, sits in that D1/D2 style. Somewhat basic like the old Defender with fantastic off road capability but with better on-road manners but not as plush as the range rover.

ah gotcha...so the build date on the Fieldmaster with 3000 miles is 12/23

I will find out the build date of the "new" one....hopefully its after July 2024....if not, would you just wait and pay a little more for the 2025 version? I'd rather try and avoid any little known issues they might have fixed in between build dates...the Fieldmaster only had the premium audio and safari windows that I liked, but not a must....

Safari window leaks are an easy dealer fix. I had them fixed and never leaked again.

I have had my Grenny since Jan 2025. I transitioned from a 2024 Toyota Landcruiser LC 250 FE. I was missing the analogue aspect of an offroad vehicle, I have just turned 5,000 miles on my Grenny and it has been an amazing vehicle. I continue to accessorize it as I plan to use it for overlanding...and it fills my niche of a daily driver.

was your build date from 2023 or mid 2024? just curious...

Im ready to pull the trigger on one....its just gives me a little anxiety I keep reading about some of the electrical gremlins with error lights - especially since they seem to have to be fixed or rest by the dealer (3 hours away)....I havent read of MANY major mechanical issues, which is great....but owning an old early 2000's Land Rover...I know how frustrating electrical "gremlins" can be...

Don't forget that prices on the '25s are likely to increase... their press release sure suggests that tariffs are going to be problematic to their ability to keep the price point. If the dealer made available - or, better yet, threw in an extended warranty, I'd suggest the used one any day of the week.

It looks like Mossy - where I got mine - is offering 4.99% on used (2.9% still on new), which may or may not factor into your analysis.

Read the forum THOROUGHLY about all the issues you do not want to drive off the lot with, as service solutions can be non existent.

It's just a friggin car. Keep walking away until you get one with ZERO issues.

Thats true...I most likely will just need to find a 24 on the lot....the used one im looking at is not at an INEOS dealer - so Im pretty sure they wont offer an extended warranty (but ill check)....I would still have 4 years on the used one and about 47k miles....so not sure I would need an extra warranty at this time

I hear ya...and have been reading the forums for hours trying to figure out if a lot of these issues are widespread (like 75% of owners have them)....or if Im only reading about the people that DO have issues, which could be a small percentage....

Not sure how to keep walking away until I get one with Zero issues....how would I even know until I bought it and drove it off the lot....unless the lights start popping up immediately at the dealership

In addition to asking about an extended warranty, is there an Ineos dealer near the place that you located the used one? Setting aside future warranty issues, a prepurchase inspection could calm nerves over whether the extra year is worth the difference in warranty coverage. At a minimum, it would address things that have been flagged via service bulletin.

My build date is 11/23 - only issues in last 14 months since delivery were door seals (dealer fixed immediately), the door handle sticking (the recall notice that’s out right now), and a check engine light on refueling (latest SW update). That’s literally it. I don’t have the safari windows, but as others mentioned, that leak seems to be an easy dealer fix.

I do wonder how the build dates factor in. Is there a specific build date to avoid? There have not been many changes so would that just be a quality control issue? Many of those types of issues are probably easy fixes except those AC gremlins.

I am checking the build date on the IG I was looking at. Here on the west coast the dealer did not have the info yet on the incetives.

The earlier ones were more common to have the door seals come off (the "boot wash"), but by now they've been fixed... Just because you find a newer one doesn't really make you any less likely to have the boot wash feature.

VINs prior to 017000 are referred to as "MY24.1" and had a different infotainment unit than the newer units, although there is no functional difference between them or change in "issues" of any sort. Somewhere around the same era a heat wrap was added to the front (single) transfer case cable.

At the end of the day, they're all under warranty at this point, so get the one you want and then deal with the issues if they arise
