Anyone use a tow hitch carrier?
I'm thinking about getting one.. I'm thinking I'll put bicycles or possibly a rack for carrying some gear outside the car.

I've been looking at this one. Anyone knows what works and if this one works well on the Grenadier?

I got the RiG’d Rambleswing away attachment for my Kuat Bike rack. It was $850 and must weight 200 lbs. I realized that you have to have a torque wrench to install it. So I haven’t actually installed it yet as I just got the torque wrench. We are using it for a bike trip to Idaho and Montana next week so I will report on it later. So far I am not excited about installing it.

I just saw the Yakima swing away carrier. 500lbs rating! Looks really nice too.
Anyone has any experiences with that?

I have a Yakima backswing and it makes things very easy to get in the back. Unfortunately it is probably 6 inches short or so. I have been thinking of the RigD or the Kuat. I think with the Kuat about 6 inches longer and that it rotates to 120% would make it about perfect.

Okay been traveling from AZ to Utah, ID and MT with the Rigd Rambleswing Swing Out Bike Rack Carrier and love it. Yes it was heavy to install and expensive. But it is solid and smooth to operate. I’m loving it.

Note: here it is on my wife’s Lexus GX460.

I’ve got the RambleSwing with the Pakmule Scout. It’s a great setup. As others have said, the RambleSwing is extremely stout, and worth the money. I did have to sand down the paint a bit so it would fit in the hitch receiver, but once I did that it was easy to install.

The Pakmule is also very well built. The Pakmule Scout can swing out fully without bumping the wagon. I have not tested the Pakmule Pro, which is their lager cargo carrier, to see if it would fully swing open without hitting the side of the wagon. The key part for the Scout, however, is that it can be ordered with a 7” tongue riser, which preserves a lot more of the departure angle on the Grenadier. The Grenadier has a pretty low hitch receiver to begin with, and for me the departure angle would be a problem without the riser.

The Pakmule and RambleSwing both have expanding tongue locks, which take out all of the play, so between the two there is no rattling once secured.

Here's what I had to say about the Pivot 2 in a related post:

"The Kuat Pivot V2 was a game changer. It's awesome. Much cheaper than the 1Up swing arm. Heavy duty too. And w/ Amazon Prime, free shipping, unlike w/ the 1Up swing arm."
