Spare wheel lockable box

It's a different key, I believe on delivery the box lock should be unlocked and the key inside down the bottom.
Might also be in a welcome packet of sorts. Looks like this...

Thanks I'll save the unpacking of the spare wheel box once I get to the camp site with a cold one 😄. That should hopefully bring on a bit of luck 🤞

I've scrolled through and cannot locate a link to order one of the lockable storage boxes. Anyone?

I don't think there is a direct link (I don't think any US dealers do online ordering); if you call up your dealer they can easily look up the part number and get one on the way for you

Yes there is and it broke!
I used a top tier (heat treated) torx socket on a sunny day in my driveway to remove mine and it felt precarious as hell getting these out. They felt like they were run on to 40-50 ft lbs and getting them out with a factory tool on a rainy night would result in an epic failure.

A couple of questions re-locking box parts, does anyone know the sizes / bolt type of the three Torx bolts that secure the box to the wheel mount? Also the dimensions of the foam blocks that appear to velcro onto the sides of the box?

Thanks!

This is the way. I'm a little surprised that there are no credible (ie non ebay/shein/blatant knockoffs) aftermarket options though. IIRC the OEM 'box' is plastic and made in China so the ~$350 price must include a healthy markup that an aftermarket fabricator could potentially compete with.

Anyone else going with a naked spare? On my Gren, the plastic cover make an unsatisfying sound when I close the door, especially compared to the smaller one. Petty I know but it bothers me.

Hmmm are you sure it’s mounted correctly? Mine doesn’t make a noise at all.

Worth checking out. The lock is absolute crap but the box itself is reasonable quality and a great idea for keeping recovery stuff, gloves, maybe wet clothes or anything else stinky/wet you don’t want in the cabin.

It’s a simple but genius idea in my book and I use it all the time. In fact just this afternoon I picked up one of my dogs turds (in a bag!) and put it in there to take home and dispose of 😂
