Yes, they sent me the “Wind Noise Reducer” as @DaBull pointed out after the initial sale. I believe it’s now included with the purchase of the rack.

After attaching it, I was still getting whistling above 70mph. I have a Thule cargo pod direct mounted to the rack and I wasn’t sure if that was the cause of the whistling or if the rack was the continued cause. On long trips, the noise was driving everyone nuts - especially the dogs. I, separately, purchased Leitner’s Wirelok Wire Guide System. The Wirelok Wire Guide System is the “Wind Noise Reducer”. I cut to size a piece to fit the underside T-slot channel of the front facing load bar. One on top (as shown in the assembly instructions) and one on the bottom eliminated the whistling. Now I just have wind noise that I don’t think is any worse than what I had before installing the rack.

My advice would be to add the bottom piece before mounting it to the roof. It was a challenge attaching it with the rack on the roof. The rack is perfect for my needs and I enjoy it so much more without the whistling.

Hi RobS, Thanks. I am looking at it laid out on my garage floor and amazed at how much real estate it takes up. It make's you realize how large the roof is on the Grenadier. From this perspective you gain an appreciation how stout this rack is. When I see them in photos mounted on a Grenadier, they look nice. When I look down on it assembled on the garage floor, It's a beast of a rack sure to carry anything anywhere. DaBull

I also have a Thule Roof Box, and was wondering the same. I just received my Leitner rack yesterday and promptly put it together last night.

Unfortunately, I've found that the Thule "PowerClick Clamps" which come standard with the roof box that I have (assuming the same for yours), do not open quite wide enough to clamp onto the Leitner rack cross bars. That being said, in doing a bit of research, it looks like someone already created a potential solution (I say potential, since I haven't tested it yet), but I purchased a set of these T-track adapters, which I plan to attach directly to the T-tracks on the Leitner cross bars (there are 2 tracks on the top face of each of the Leitner cross bar):

I have Shitake now and yesterday they fitted a full factory rack for me as part of a deal (too long a story for here)
But I’m wondering if these clamps will fit into the rhino rack slots to replace the Thule clamp setup that doesn’t work?

@Karearea I replaced the power click with the e-trailer direct mount adopter linked in @GrenADV s post. I believe the Rhino Rack uses a t-slot mounting system. If so, these adapters will work.

Speaking of - what are folks using to secure things to the roof rack. I need to mount my Gazelle 4+ up there and was thinking a set of front runner strachits might make sense.

What did you end up going with? I have the same tent and definitely interested to see how you secured.

Great proactive customer service. The following is an email I received today.

Good Morning,

We have recently discovered a “whistling” noise while driving our personal Ineos with the Leitner ACS Roof attached. When reaching the speed 70 MPH and higher, the whistling noise is detected. We wanted to address this as soon as possible to prevent any further complications.

We are happy to say that we found a solution to this problem and are going to be sending you a piece of stripping that will go in to the most furthest forward slot in the front load bar (see attached – page 13 of instructions: Wind Noise Reducer). This stripping should help eliminate the whistling noise while driving.

If the rack is installed, you can keep it installed and still install the strip. You just need to remove the 2 most forward nuts that attached the rack to the brackets, this way you can slightly lift the rack up to install the stripping.

Just heard back from Leitner (great service!) the wind noise reducer was installed incorrectly on the top of the roof rack not under the front cross-bar. Just swapped it out (with a little help from a plastic ruler and 4" pocket knife). Thanks again for the reply.

1. Wind noise. I've read mixed reviews of the Leitner solution strip being effective. Can anyone break the tie for me? If it still whistles, but it whistles *less* than the competition then I guess that's how it'll be.

2. Because of their non-gutter mounts, the rack cantilevers out 8"-10" from its front and rear supports. With an evenly distributed load, this is no big deal but inevitably one will be kneeling and standing/walking on those unsupported ends. Can anyone with one installed comment on how front and rear ends of the platform "feel" under a human load while up there?

Regarding your first concern, the strip works. No more whistling. The whistling above 70 mph before installing the strip was irritating. IMHO, the wind noise is no worse than it was before I added the rack.

With regard to your second concern, I weigh 225lbs and the rack feels steady under foot. I don’t notice any give when moving about.

I have had the rack for a couple of months now. The strip has taken the whistle away. Also, the corners of the rack are very sturdy. It’s a great roof rack!

Hi holdmybeer, I have my Leitner Rack assembled and ready to go on. All I can say is that the brackets are a work or art, CNC machined from a billet of 6061 aluminum. The rack is an exceptional design that is extremely robust. I also like that it is low profile only adding approximately 2.1" to the height of the Grenadier and the design is appealing too. You might also want to check out his patented gear boxes that go on top of the racks. Great design.
