Hi I was going to put a post out, that the Billing off road show would be a great place for a meet up this year. Ideal for those wishing to camp or just day visitors.
We had about 5 on the actual show ground last year and about 10 day visitors with several going round the off road course. For those not aware of the Billing off road show it is not a Land Rover show all makes are welcome.
Just book early as it is filling up quick.

New to this posting business, but guess this would need to go on a different thread.
Comments and suggestions if you please.
But I seem to remember reports in LRO or LR-Monthly 20 years ago talking about the Billing Land Rover Show.

But I seem to remember reports in LRO or LR-Monthly 20 years ago talking about the Billing Land Rover Show.
Very true, the show first started as the BF Goodrich show, 30 plus years ago then moved to Billing aquadrome in Northampton. This show was run by Land Rover owner magazine and became known as the LRO show.
Over the years it has had several name changes as different magazines have run the show. The Billing off road show is now a family run business on the other side of the river to the Aquadrome and has been running for over 5 years.

Be great to see a gathering of IG's in the fields.

I see that most of the localised fora have set up a roll call to see where people are and it was suggested that I do the same here.

So, I'll start

Jeremy996 - real name Jeremy Edwards

I live in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire and I am an Independent Financial Adviser

Hopefully the Grenadier will turn up before the end of March 2023! I'm told it is built, but I have no official confirmation. (OTR 22/04/2023, miles are ticking up quite quickly)

Hi Jeremy
I am kind of hoping to have a get together of owners at the Billing off road show. I have just posted an advert for the show suggesting a meet up in the bar at noon Saturday 29th June.
Your thoughts or ideas on this please.
Cheers Barry.

Seems like a good idea, but probably not for me as I have carer duties on Saturdays. Can I suggest a new thread in the INEOS Grenadier Events forum?

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for the quick reply and the advice, I have posted on the event list now as you suggested.
Shame you can't make the Saturday. If you can make it there on the Sunday let me know.
Cheers Barry

Oil & gas industry for me also. Carried out hyperbaric welding trials for Subsea7 in Huntley, a few years back.
Did you know a deep sea diver from the North Sea called Neville Rogers per chance? Long time ago now.

Remember doing a few SAR flights in the North Sea during the late 70's and early 80's - horrible disasters at time.

Piper Alpha ?

My then girlfriend’s dad worked on their as some sort of an engineer. I remember when it happened they thought he was on it, but he had been sent to a sister rig after coming back from leave. That was a tense 48hrs.

I have the Billing’s event on my calendar so will try and get over 👍

I remember that tragic event very well. Being in the offshore diving industry for the past 40 plus years I was diving from a vessel in the Norwegian sector, not very far from Piper. My brother had recently come off the Piper and like your story, he had moved over to the Claymore. Only a year before, he had been involved in an emergency evacuation from the Piper for a very similar problem to that which eventually destroyed the Piper. My brother and many of the crew, were sent home by rail whilst still in their overalls and boots. Also, off pay from the day of evacuation even though all their work doc's, cert's, etc were still on the rig preventing them from finding work elsewhere. The bad old days which thankfully have long gone in the North Sea.

And I’m not a million miles from either of you.

I’ve not introduced myself yet so here goes:

James
Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Aircraft Performance Engineer

  • MY23 Trialmaster (but not registered until October 2024 with a hefty discount on price)
  • Station Wagon
  • Diesel
  • Inky Black
  • 18” alloys
  • Rough & smooth packs
  • plus extras:
    • Safari Windows
    • Rear side panels
    • Spare Wheel lockable storage
    • Rear seat covers
    • Carpet flooring, Carpet floor mats (no idea why the original person chose these given the rest of the spec is off-road/work vehicle orientated)
    • Rock Sliders
    • Front winch
    • Removable rear winch
    • Cargo management system, Luggage organiser, Loadspace partition net, Luggage net, Quick release tie down rings
Things I’ve added (or got on order) since buying:

Next big purchase for it will be side steps
Nice spec, very like mine, 2023 grey diesel trialmaster, M1 but only £190 VED.

The low VED was a very pleasant surprise.

Why is the road tax so low. Surely that’s a mistake. An M1 vehicle with high emissions like a Grenadier is £2745 first year then £600 for the next five years because vehicle is over £40,000 when first registered.
Mine is an N1 two seat commercial and yearly tax rate is £345 per year.
Edit that £190 you are quoting doesn’t include the £410 per year luxury car tax that you have to pay with the Grenadier.

Exactly was at the car garage fully expecting to pay the £600 , only paid the £190 , not sure if they have classed it as a commercial and don't have to pay that added luxury tax
