Synonyms: selflessness, unselfishness

Not seeing where you’re taking exception, but whatever…

It’s just the way you view Altruism. If you are truly altruistic then the quote you state isnt true altruism, because you are “working” and therefore getting paid. Hence the selfless concern doesn’t come into play. Actual altruism means you sacrifice your own beliefs, values, and personal gains for the “greater good”.

In essence “The basic principle of altruism is that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that service to others is the only justification of his existence, and that self-sacrifice is his highest moral duty, virtue and value.”

It’s more of a Philosophical distinction.
