I bought the throttle controller on a black Friday deal based on a recommendation from a forum member.
I got this one:

Last night I was driving from San Francisco to Reno, NV and we had a snowstorm coming. I thought I could outrun the storm so I went for it.

Storm came earlier and dumped a foot (30cm) of snow on the pass at 7,500ft. I was mostly there when a big rig truck with chains jackknifed and subsequently was hit by another big rig truck. Highway got closed and I was turned around.

Went down West and out of the snow and decided to try a small 2 lane highway up north of 80, highway 49. Got a few hours into that when a car about 10 cars in front of me did something boneheaded and collided with traffic from opposite lane leading to the road being closed. After 30 minutes caltrans announced the road closed. Turned around, found a spot with cell coverage and started hunting for a hotel. Found one an hour away and went there.

But, this is a story about the pedal controller. I set it to anti slip and it performed absolutely great. It maintained traction and modulated my pedal input to maximize traction even when I deliberately tried to get the car to skid. I think this is a great device and I really appreciated it during last night's snowy conditions.

Today the road is clear and glorious. Took these pics as I returned to my journey in the morning.

Looks like a fun trip, regardless of the traffic drama! I have considered the pedal controller as well, but it hasn’t happened. I did put on the Milltek exhaust and love it though.

Thank you for this Parb. Most pedal controller reviews involve speeding up the process, which I have no need to do. Now, increased traction.🤔
The other features of the evc product I like are:
1. You don't need to have the control panel and cable installed after initial setup so the installation is undetectable unless the pedal base or adjacent kick panel is accessed. Everything can be controlled via Bluetooth and the phone app.
2. Lock mode which locks out the throttle pedal as an anti-theft measure. I used this mode daily during recent visits to some higher petty crime locations where I was parked overnight on the street. It won't stop a break-in but should stop a theft. Stealing the keys won't help either.

Also Valet mode (restricted pedal) if that's your thing.

I like the lock out mode, really nice. I tested the valet mode, I thought it was fun.. not sure if I'll use it but I had to test it.

But I really, really like the anti-slip mode. It works really well.

I think I'm a pretty experienced driver in snow. I grew up in Sweden and did a lot of driving in northern Sweden and Norway for both winter skiing and summer skiing on the mountains with year round snow through my 20s. We used studded tires in the winter but in the summer I used all season tires when driving up to do summer skiing. The anti-skid mode does everything they teach you in Sweden for driving on snow and ice (it's a part of the drivers test, they have a track made with a rubber/asphalt mix that gets like ice when sprayed with water and you have to navigate a cone track at relatively higher speed without skidding out).

I have to say that people driving on hwy 80 in snow in the Sierras on the west coast drive really poorly. Way too fast for the road conditions, especially the pickups with no load in the truck bed. You see them skidded out to the ditch all the time. Speeding and no weight on the rear axle is a bad combo. I used to put 100lbs of sand in the trunk of my car in Sweden to make sure I had enough weight on the rear axle to get decent traction on all axles if I was driving without load in the car. I got enough stuff in the trunk of my Grenadier that this is not an issue.

Anyway, I fully recommend the pedal commander. I don't use the ultimate mode, my Grenadier just isn't the car where I need that. Anti theft and anti slip is where this product shines for me!

Ultimate is great for responsiveness when towing
And traffic light grid starts 😄

Did you mount the wired controller or are you just using your phone? If mounted, where?

I see you have the Owl visors. I have these also and like them. How are yours working for you?

I really like the owl visors. When it's really sunny, and especially when it hits the snow the visor works great. Also works great for low sun. And I can still see traffic lights when the visor is up which was my main reason for the visor.

I mounted the controller on the left side of the steering wheel in the little dip in the dash on the left side. Maybe half an inch from the steering wheel column. That way the stalk for turning on the headlights is blocking it unless I move my head. When driving I used the phone rather than the button, but I like the idea of having the button there. I used Velcro so I can take it out of I need to lock the car.

Its a perfect size for that channel, fits perfectly into it.

Have you tried this device in any off-road conditions? Does it only control the throttle, or does it brake as well?

@anand this might be interesting to test out, I'm especially curious how it performs with and without the lockers engaged.

Only throttle. Connects between the gas pedal and the engine ECU. It basically dampens or amplifies the signal from the gas pedal to the engine ECU

This is how I mounted the display:

Driving in a weather like this requires extreme caution. Glad you drove safely with the great devices.
Beautiful photos btw!
