It's been snowing/sub zero here for most of the week. On Tuesday I had the same orange engine coil 'Preheater Active' warning come up on the centre console as I started the engine and then it flashed at me for the next 50 miles. I thought about stopping and doing the old 'lock the car up and restart' trick to re-set the system but there were no other warning lights up on the driver's console and I was in a hurry to get home and beat the weather so just kept going. It's not happened again, even though it's gotten colder through the week.

I have 6.5K miles on the clock and it's the first time I've encountered the quirk. As a lifetime diesel vehicle driver I always wait for the heater coil light on the driver's console to extinguish before I turn over the engine. Has anyone else taken it up with their service centre and had it fixed or is it just a software glitch and not worth worrying about?

Thanks

I’m presuming it’s a diesel. Mine last couple of days pre heater symbol on very cold morning start up then goes away.

Aye it's a diesel. Perhaps I was a split second too quick to start the engine once the coil symbol went out. Annoying though.
