Low oil level alarm at 9.000 km ! I filled up 1 Liter ane now it‘s ok, but…

Is this normal??? I never had to fill up between two services. Neither with two 3.0 l Diesel Audi Quattros (250.000 km) nor with my 5.0 l Mustang (170.000 km)!
 
Oil consumption on new engines prior to the first oil change is a condition nearly every make has with some of their engines and is discussed often on many new car groups. 1 litre in the first 9000km is likely not an issue. Is the car petrol or diesel and how was the car used prior to noticing the oil usage? Many new engines have low friction rings and lower tension rings to help reduce fuel consumption and the oil from the factory may have a different additive package than what is filled at service even with OEM oils. If the engine has done more idle time, stop start traffic, short runs straight from the dealer for the first 3 to 10 hrs of running there is likely going to be more engine oil consumption then an engine that was run for hours and temperatures allowed to stabilise.
I would consider doing the first oil and filter change soon at 10000km and then monitor the oil usage. The wear in an engine and on the oil is the highest in the time between new and the first service. There is evidence from other makes that oil consumption can reduce after the first oil change.
 
BMW specifications for both engines are around 1 litre per 1000kms (by design as @NQ94 said above)
Saying that, I don't think I have used much oil on my B57. Hard to tell without a dipstick.

The B57 engine in the grenadier does have a dipstick at the left rear, although difficult to spot for the first time.
 
Would that be 1 litre per 10 000km? 1 litre per 1000km is very high usage.

I think that would be right. I recall that was the same spec for the 200 Series LC although any usage remotely close to that would be a big big worry. I had an early 200 and it used about 500-700ml every 5,000km from day one. Most older models didn’t use any.
I’ve only done 12k in my IG but it hasn’t used any so far - at least not by checking the system anyway.

With 0W spec oils having the consistency of water I’m surprised they don’t use oil. But I know nothing technical about oil.
 
The B57 engine in the grenadier does have a dipstick at the left rear, although difficult to spot for the first time.
The dipstick is much easier to spot at the front right.

(it's just a joke people. I'm respectful of our seniors)

OK for Australia, England, and all other nations that travel on the correct side of the road, ( not conquered by the French ) the kerb side rear of the BMW B57 diesel engine fitted to the Grenadier is where the dipstick is located.
I am now ducking for cover.

The early 1VD-FTV did have oil consumption issues early on just like the 1HZ 6 cylinder. The Toyota V8 diesel in a lot of cases ended up being the vacuum pump and pipe work for the turbo oil scavenge system and updates came out for changes and modifications to later engines from factory.
Engine oil usage is complex and in some cases it's the oil itself that's an issue and not the engine components.

Has anyone experience with using the Grenadiers dipstick? I remember that in the beginning everyone said that it’s not for use and that only the electronic oil measurement is reliable.
That sounded to me as if the dipstick is just there because it’s there BMW design but that it’s not usable because of some design issues like a dry sump lubricator. But I don’t know if this is true. So I would appreciate an Info whether it’s usable in real life or not.

Yes the dipstick is accurate, the level shown on the dipstick corresponds with the level indicated by the electronic readout, well it is accurate on my vehicle.
The dipstick is not that hard to access when you know where it is, as you can see in the photos I have supplied a few threads ago.

I agree. I happened to run the level test yesterday and it was ok for on and off-road.
I checked the dipstick this morning after seeing @bemax's post. The level is a bit above the MAX line which might account for the small overfill that Ineos want for off-road.

I generally check my oil at each fill up. The other day when checking after getting gas it showed "ok" for level On-Road and "Refill 500ml" for Level Off-road. Being a child of the 70's after getting Siri to tell me that 500 ml is .53 qts, I added that when I got home. Photos so you guys know what it looks like. See my other post on turning off the ridiculous over speed limit warning!
