Diesel Observations from a Diesel Mechanic

It's quite amazing the ancient petrol I've managed to run various old lawn mowers on.
Almost impossible to kill a lawnmower - and I've tried!
Yep, I think my last one went about 20 years on the original oil, (oil was topped up once or twice but never drained and replaced) spark plug and airfilter. The only reason it was replaced was the blade casing cracked.

I had that happen on a quality alloy cased Toro. Many rocks over several years did that.
So I bought a thick steel lintel , jumped up and down on it and after a lot of effort put a curve in it and bolted it to the mower.

moral of the story - we should all drive old lawnmowers and not new cars!
Sadly my mowers (well 4 out of the 5) are destroying the planet.
Do new lawn mowers even have emission control?

They've got a $10k model. Who buys that?

Aren't they all these days battery operated ;)

Else just the good old pushmower ;)

I guess both suck if you have a big patch of grass haha

Better just get some goats

I heard from some neighbors the new grass is actually having your lawn been filled with clovers.

But just to take a stop here we are getting very far of topic of the diesel engine from the grenadier, unless it comes with a lawnmower attachment haha

I use 1 mower for chipping shrubs and tree clippings and mowing over bark and nuts from gumtrees. I have acres. It beats raking and those stupid chippers, especially the electric ones.
It provides mulch and compost for shrubs and veges.
I use 1 mower for mowing a 15x4m patch of "lawn"
I use another 2 mowers for general bush grass , or a brushcutter if it's too steep/rocky. 2 , because they are old and sometimes one won't start.
And there is the old ride on which gets 2 goes/year in summer , doing a large area under gumtrees trees.
You guys who've never been roasted for 11 hours in a bushfire just won't understand!
I have no machine that runs on diesel, just to get the thread vaguely back on topic ;)

Does that mean I should order two Grenadiers ? ;) hahahah
Oke that was a joke please don't kill me!
