Morning (here in Texas)!

My wife and I purchased an Ineos roughly a few weeks ago and it is my wife's daily driver. She wanted something unique and she got just that! A little back story - I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around an engine bay and service/maintain my own personal vehicle (W213 MB E63S) with plans to service the Ineos as well (interested in learning about the B58 platform!!!). Call me an armchair mechanic who knows enough to be dangerous underneath a vehicle. I'm not claiming to know all!

This is where our vehicle honeymoon has ended and I'm here to see if I'm crazy or if the car is what I think it is (electrical nightmare). The Ineos has roughly 9000 miles on it when purchasing FYI. Almost every time I drive it - we are privy to a lightshow in the "Telltale cluster". AEB warning, ADAS warning, LDW warning, etc. This happens when just starting the vehicle and leaving the garage to cruising down the highway at 70 mph when driving for 50+ miles. What is concerning is that more and more things are lighting up the more we drive it. Engine oil level low light yesterday after driving for about 30 miles. It was on for another 40 miles and then disappeared for the last 10 miles home. Mind you this was fresh off servicing 4 days prior with fluid levels being verified by a tech at the dealer. (LOL at the fact that owners can't reset their service interval warning - that is sad) Alongside that - there were ADAS lights intermittently on and off the whole trip. Lane departure warnings when clearly in the middle of the lane. Speed limit signs showing as 80 MPH when in a 40 MPH zone, etc. No disabling of any systems manually, this is all happening on it's own.

I am simply wondering if this is a regular thing or am I paranoid? I've owned 20+ vehicles in my lifetime and not a one has intermittently flashed gauge cluster lights. Sure when something is wrong it would show but it would not disappear/appear randomly. The light would actually reflect a real issue that was corrected and the light would go away. I understand these vehicles are brand spanking new and there might be software issues/1st gen issues/etc. Curious and appreciative of your comments/thoughts.

Thank you and I want to like this car so badly - IT IS REALLY COOL!!!

When it was recently serviced did you bring up the numerous warning lights to the dealer? If so, what did they find?

Hello and thank you for the responses. Yes, all of these have been mentioned to dealer/service side but response is either 1: windshield is dirty and blocking/obscuring the ADAS camera (I clean/check the windshield every time we drive to eliminate this) or 2: this is normal operation for the vehicle. (If this is normal then it is very concerning IMO).

I just don't buy it. This car in the span of 2 weeks has thrown more lights than the 20+ cars I've owned in my lifetime. I don't want to believe we are being told lip service but I get that feeling.

Some other concerns that we've voiced have not been handled appropriately IMO - this is what leads me to believe it's lip service. Two alignments in two weeks and car still pulls right with steering wheel off by a few degrees. (I don't think this is nitpicky in a 70K+ vehicle but does service verify accurate alignment/repairs upon completion? I think not or it would have been obvious it still needed correction). Steering pump reservoir leaks from the cap - we are told this is normal due to it venting (when is an oil leak an expected operation on a vehicle??). Multi point inspection was had prior to purchasing vehicle. I get home with the car and put a gallon of washer fluid in it alongside brake fluid being low. I just don't believe what I'm being told! I'm not saying they are incompetent - I'm saying my experiences with numerous vehicles say otherwise. This is why I'm suspicious and looking to a community based around this vehicle for other opinions.

Having lots of warning lights on is not normal, mine has none (currently just warning to top adblue up).
I have read that they go a bit haywire if the battery is in need of a charge?
Or if the battery has been disconnected without the proper procedure? If it's been like this since the service, I would guess on one of those 2., as you have said, the lights go off as there is no actual fault.

I would either contact Ineos corporate, and/or a different dealer, that doesn't sound like they are appropriately handling your concerns

The only thing you've listed that is normal is the power steering cap weeping, as it is vented.

As @anand said contact a different dealer and corp. Also, I assume you bought it at an Ineos dealer and not another location. Finally, following proper disconnecting procedure, then charge the battery. Then connect drive it for 10 mins and see if the faults clear.

Does your Grenadier have the dual battery system? Like all cars should, the window washer fluid tank takes a whole bottle.

On the oil - I’ve had 2 experiences. Once I got the low oil alert - happened to be going past my dealer so they added a quart and it disappeared. Then again, it happened last week (and I had the full one year service just a month ago). So I added a quart and it disappeared. The dealer told me the sensor was pretty hyper-active. Secondly, I think when you do a full oil change, you need to give it a few hours (or a day) and then top it off. Checking oil level immediately after a change will not give an accurate reading - not with those sensor settings. So that’s easy - not a problem. On all your ADAS alerts - I would have the same question as @anand. I’m also curious about the area you live and the roads you drive on. The ADAS system is using GPS, as well as camera - looking for indications of a road, traffic/speed signs, etc. So when I’m leaving a parking lot - all the signals light up until I get on the road and the system gets enough information to chill out. If there are overlapping brine lines on the road in winter - the lane departure warning goes nuts, thinking those are lane lines. If I’m out in the country on a gravel road - bunch of lights. At first I thought there was a problem - then once I figured it out, I just ignore it and it goes away. Definitely not what most people are used to

I don’t buy it either. But you’re getting the exact same answers I’m getting. So something’s not right. The dealers are either being told to deliver that BS or they are just not getting factory support.
Maybe the software update will deal with some of this, but we’ve been waiting for that for months and no sign of any software.
Here’s just a few weeks back on a nice clear day.

Do those stay on or go away? I get the AEB one all the time - but that’s when it doesn’t know I’m on a road. Once I am someplace there are normal lane lines and have driven past a few signs, the system calms down and they disappear. It’s totally normal - just the joy of the nanny state - but I don’t even notice it any longer.

There's a third option... Dealers are being dealers and doing half assed work or saying things to get around having to do the work. I dealt with this for years while working at an independent shop. Good techs/service advisors/sales staff that are actually willing to put in the work as needed (for every aspect of the process) are very hard to find, and with the rate of turnover in the industry, are even harder to retain (or the company doesn't feel it necessary to retain them); but I digress

I did wonder if this was the real problem with a lot of the dealers

They come and go at very random times. Those were when I was in the Trans Canada, on a nice sunny day. They will come on for 2-3-4 days than won’t see them again for a week, than randomly will re appear. Dealer line “we couldn’t reproduce the issue” and ADAS system lights coming on and off is “normal”

Certainly not normal operation.

The dealer should not be turning down warranty work though. They should welcome every bit. The dealers get paid very well for warranty and the techs get paid amazingly well too. At least under the normal higher end model such as Land Rover and such.
