Howdy everyone.
I purchased a 2024 Trialmaster just before xmas. I ended up going with a demonstrator as I wasn't sure of the delivery dates for a new build and couldn't find a new vehicle with a spec I liked.
I ended up with the following:
Diesel Trialmaster wagon with 4,500kms on it.
shale blue with a white roof
factory winch and hoops (I wanted a winch and couldnt find any new vehicles with one)
cloth trim with heated seats
side steps
The downside/upside depending on who you ask (my wife or me).... The car is in Victoria and I live in Perth. So a mate and I are flying over mid Jan to drive it 3,500kms back to perth. I've driven the nullabour previously on 5 occassions having collected vehicles or caravans to drive back west. But this will be the first time I'll have a travel companion. So that will make for a nice change.
I'm a land rover tragic having owned (and parted out) many Discovery 2s and defenders. I was eagerly following the original Ineos anouncement and had intended to preorder one. But then Covid came along and we bought a 4T caravan so I went the LC200 instead and then a Ram2500. But we have decided to sell the van, as the wife and kids aren't so keen on caravaning and I've missed owning a 4wd since having the Ram.
I've been reading the various build threads and have a few plans, as I can't leave a vehicle stock .
Wheels - I've already got a set of method 707s on order, still trying to work out tyres. Leaning towards the BFGs KM3 in 285/75
side steps -will be swapped out for rock sliders, just trying to work out which ones. I quite like the look of the owloutdoor ones, I'm just not sure how far out they will protrude.
xpec side window racks. for external pantry and side tank.- although still on the fence about this. being from the West, I need the fuel range from time to time. So was thinking that and the letech ladder may be a better solution for the extra diesel when I need it. Rather than the brown davis tank, I just don't like the idea of the internal transfer pump.
roof rack - I'm thinking a pioneer tray 3/4ish (as I have a bunch of accessory mounts) and either fabricating or modifying leitner grab rail mounts to have it fit. I don't necessarily want to purchase the roof bars as well and I can't seem to find the mounts sold separately. I was thinking of designing and prototyping with 3D printing, and then having a machine shop we use through work machine them for me so I can have it mounted low and fit around the side racks. I'm still trying to work that out.
Some electrics and lights, which I'm still contemplating.
I'll send post some updates once I collect the car.
Cheers
Clint
