Hi all - excited about my new adventure vehicle! I’ll be setting this up for touring / overlanding here in Australia.

My Grenny has a roof conversion which creates a lot of space in the back, and functions as an instant sleeping platform. I had been looking for a car with this option and landed on this Grenadier. It’s amazing!

Looking forward to learning all about the Grenadier and start building out the interior.

This is a Mulgo conversion (Sydney, Australia). It’s very clean and minimal.

Some pics below, I can take more later when things are set up..

Please post additional photos of the top in the closed position as well. To my eye it looks like Mulgo made a few changes compared to the original prototype. The height appears to be less and the raised rib in the front is different. The shaping between the top shell and the lower section at the hinge point is also highly revised. The original was somewhat awkward. It now looks great, maybe even better looking that the Alucab Silenus. Personally I much prefer the color matched paint.

Welcome. That's a neat set-up. How does it go with accessing the underfloor batteries?

For the other members the link to the Mulgo Australian website follows. They have been doing roof top conversions for many years particularly on 70 series land cruisers and defenders.

Yes, this is the updated design. As per the Expedition Centre, the following is different from the first design (the blue conversion shown on the website):
- Front section of lower frame drops like the standard roof
- The outer skin of the lower frame has been reduced in height and the lifting roof section has been increased in height to give a better balance between the two
- The lifting roof section has been rounded off in the front corners as well as along the side - it is the same profile as Ineos is using for the A-pillars - this gives a continuous line from front to back. The rounded edges make the roof look lower.
- Colour matched paint

I took her out for a quick night away a few days ago, see picture below.

I agree this is a (much) better look. The overall shape and matching paint helps a lot. I certainly love the original roofline, so in all honesty I had to get used to this for a bit - but I love it. The practicality of the rooftop bed and added height/space just can't be beaten, which, of course, is the main reason for getting this in the first place. Arrive at camp, setup in 20 seconds (roof latches are on the inside, so don't even need to leave the vehicle to setup/pack down if required). I'll soon be doing the interior fit out... I'm also considering a light bar just under the hinge at the front, which I think would complement the look too.

This is the Utility Wagon (Trialmaster) so have full access to the batteries. The floor is completely flat and level from the front seats to the rear doors. I've added some pics in my post above.

Thanks. I hadn’t realised you haven’t fitted the interior out. If you are planning a fit out in the future I’d be interested in what you do.

Yes, that's coming. Currently in design / planning stages. Happy to post updates in a separate thread later on.

Now that is a beauty and an absolute man/woman/personwhoidentifiesasneither/non-binary cave and overlanding machine.

Fantastic setup HugoB. I was planning to install the AluCab conversion on my Grenadier, but this Mulgo top is much better looking. I have reached out to the US importer for Expedition Centre about bringing one over to the States.

That’s awesome. Hopefully you can get this done over in the US. It’s a great setup.
