I thought I’d share the following info to provide another alternative to mounting MaxTrax on the Grenadier.

Ive used magnetic pin mounts. This method consists of using four magnets which include pins to attach to a pair of MaxTrax using the MaxTrax’s normal attachment holes.
Once inserted into the MaxTrax mounting holes these magnets then are then placed on suitable parts the Grenadier (either the roof or the rear side panels since these are the only larger area that are not aluminium).

These mounts are described in considerable detail by Owl Offroad and associated Youtube videos. These can be seen at

Owl Offroad can only supply to the US market. Otherwise the magnetic mounts can be obtained from the manufacturer at Tactic Vans in Switzerland. https://www.tacticvans.com/shop/p/max-trax-quick-release

I have installed this set up and it suits me very well. It provides an easy way of mounting MaxTrax if you do not want to go down the PackRack or Moelle panel pathway. They enable the easy removal of the MaxTrax and the attachment paraphernalia when not offroading.

They are very stable and I am confident that they will not come off unexpectedly. They do not seem to add to noise or whistling that some packRack set ups create. A further advantage is that they they are lighter than the main alternatives.

I think that they probably involve a bit more work to remove the MaxTrax when you need them but I don’t think this is a major problem.
Another thing to think about is that they have no locking arrangements to prevent theft of the maxtrax. However it would not be difficult to use some sort of flexible bike or ski lock to secure them to the Grenadier’s side rails
