I know someone in a specialised automotive field.
They had a Grenadier in today to take measurements for some military upgrades. Can't say which.
So it sounds like there may be some some olive green versions coming.
The UK MOD still run a large number of old style Defenders which must be getting near end of life.

Are the MOD anti BMW?
BMW are anti war. Something about an Austrian bloke making them manufacture weapons of war in the 1940s...
Also don't want their products to end up associated with or in the hands of unscrupulous characters like the below when they get left behind by a retreating army etc.

I note the UK MOD have released an RFI for the replacement for the old Defender.
(Stage 1 of the supplier selection process)

If Ineos can offer a version of the Grenadier with a different engine and electrical system, then maybe this could happen. Note that the Gren currently relies on Chinese electronics.

I could see them shipping the body and chassis from Hambach to some other facility (maybe in the UK) to be built into the mil-spec version.

There would probably be huge benefits for the civilian version if this happened, but it doesn't seem likely. The UK MOD will probably go with Toyota or something.

BMW was/is closely linked to the German war machine of WW1 and WWII. I don't think they make vehicles for any military application. Daimler and mercedes does but i don't think bmw does.

ugly history. I went to Dachau and learned about the connection to BMW there.

WWI
BMW's first product was produced for fighter aircraft of the Luftstreitkräfte. It was a straight-six aircraft engine called the BMW IIIa, designed in the spring of 1917 by engineer Max Friz. Following the end of World War I, BMW remained in business by producing motorcycle engines, agricultural equipment, household items, and railway brakes.

During the weimar republic
A large investment in BMW after WW! by Herbert Quandt and Harald Quandt resulted in the company surviving as a separate entity. Günther Quandt, was a well-known German industrialist, joined the Nazi party in 1933 and made a fortune arming the German Wehrmacht, manufacturing weapons and batteries.
Many of his enterprises were appropriated from Jewish owners under duress with minimal compensation. At least three of his enterprises made extensive use of slave laborers, as many as 50,000 in all. One of his battery factories had its own on-site concentration camp, complete with gallows. Life expectancy for laborers was six month

WWII
Aircraft engines, motorcycles, and automobiles would be BMW's main products until World War II. During the war, BMW concentrated on the BMW 801 aircraft engine using as many as 40,000 slave laborers. These consisted primarily of prisoners from Nazi concentration camps, most prominently Dachau. Motorcycles remained as a side-line and automobile manufacture ceased altogether.

Post WWII
BMW's factories were heavily bombed during the war and its remaining West German facilities were banned from producing motor vehicles or aircraft after the war. Again, the company survived by making pots, pans, and bicycles. In 1948, BMW restarted motorcycle production. BMW resumed car production in Bavaria in 1952 with the BMW 501 luxury saloon.

Uk government are assessing electric vehicles so as to save the world from global warming during military action, I'm assuming they are also trying out biodegradable bombs that disintegrate prior to impact to avoid damage and loss of life.
The idea is quiet vehicles that emit less heat and don't need the fuel lines to the front line. I think they are planning installing charging infrastructure on the war fields so will require notice prior to any war to get the infrastructure implemented and if your electric vehicles are waving a 'charging' flag you can't attack.
Some sarcasm in this but true that they are looking to replace with electric 🤣

Couldn't the enemy just use a jamming device?
I mean if they have an Havana device , anything possible.

An electric battlefield doesn't sound too far-fetched now considering currently a $1000 rechargeable remote-controlled toy appears to be the best way to transport munitions to incapacitate any high cost mechanised military asset.

After some googling I see the move is just for the non-operational pencil pushers and catering pickups.
Meanhwhile in the Ukraine/Russia in 2025 it's all fossil fuels , baby.

Actually it is wider than just non-operational,
"This aims to replace existing platforms, such as the Land Rover and Pinzgauer, with a Common Based Platform capable of fulfilling a range of warfighting roles across the Joint Force."

Could still mean pencil pushers and delivery vans behind the actual trenches
I'll believe when I see it!
