Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I've been looking online but am finding conflicting answers about the range to a tank for the diesel. 90ltr tank. Some forums people are saying 300 miles but others are saying 480 miles (on road, no tow).

Been looking to buy a Fieldmaster Diesel for a few weeks now in the UK. Planning a trip from the UK to Baghdad as I work out there and am married to an Iraqi, have a 5 yr old who loves the outdoors & another imminent. We'd stay there for a month or so & then return back.

Also have been planning a trip to Norway next December, snowy season to stay in a tree house cabin in the middle of a forest. Plus will have other trips to Europe as we'll be moving to the UK when I can be bothered to sort out my wife's visa (no it's not easy at all!).

Specs I'm looking at:

Fieldmaster Diesel, side runners, dif locks, aux power, 17 inch alloys, no roof cargo.

So mostly not off-roading although I have done a fair bit in the past & a Gen would be ideal in Norway & for other destinations we have in mind. Just got rid of an Audi Q7 we had for 10 years. Useful as it had 7 seats and did about 600 miles to a tank so was great for getting to Holland and back almost on a single tank.

It's not a major deal breaker but will be useful in planning our trip to Baghdad (about 3,300 miles one way). The 5 seats is a bit annoying but can't have everything.

I'm doing 400+ on a tankful, (early build, 30,000+ miles), in mixed driving with short bursts off-road. The onboard statistics are not as accurate as you might expect, so I'd say +/- 60 miles.

I did a two-day 1360km (840 miles) road run over 25/26 December. Diesel wagon with a similar build to your proposed Fieldmaster. 22,000km on the odometer. 17" factory KO2s.
I was probably around 3050kg (6710lbs) with two pax, fridge, luggage and presents for the grandkids. It was 30-33c (86-91f) all day and the A/C was on for the whole trip. Some combined urban/country stuff but mostly open road at 100km/h posted speed limit (62mph).

On day 1 I got 630km (390miles) before the 1st refuel warning. The trip computer showed 119km range remaining when the 1st warning came up. I did 663km (410 miles) and used 74.75 litres (16.5 UKG,19.7 USG) for the day based on a pump refuel. That's 11.27 lts/100km (25 UK MPG, 20.9 US MPG).

Perhaps a point of reference for your fuel planning.

Diesel Fieldmaster, Bridgestone duelers, on road, no tow, single start journey, and light right foot a range of 480 is easily achievable. Short frequent cold stop start journeys, heavy right foot, heavy loads, and you will knock 100mpg off the figure

I’d guess a Q7 has very average aerodynamics. I’ll guarantee the Ineos has crap aerodynamics and it weights 3 tonne.

Mine - A bit under 11 on a good day on the highway, 12.5L/100km on a bad one around town.

That’s 400 miles on a bad day allowing for 10 litres to still be in the tank.

After a 200 Landcruiser I can live with that.
