Looks like we have choices in US for Diff Skid Plates

I was looking and found Agile Offroad is now selling Front and Rear Diff Skid plates - Pre-order available
They final posted they are coming from Rival

• Rear Diff Guard. Not order able yet
• Front Diff Guard Not order able yet

Nice to see Rival is also bringing the more protection solutions
- Gas tank Skid plate
- Exhaust Skid Plate
- Lower Control Arms Skid Plate

As well as the original to skid plates for the the Engine and Transmision and Transfer Case


It is nice to see we are starting to get some choices here in the US for Skid plates beyond importing them from Europe.

Has anyone made any skid plates out of steel yet?

I've had bash plates on dirt and adventure motorbikes. Very thick aluminum was the way to go.

I understand there's strength, weight, thickness, and corrosion to consider.

I have no 4x4 experience with skid plates so can anyone who has lived with both comment? (I guess I assume there will be steel choices coming.)

For "hope I don't need it" locations like the gearbox plastic pan, I'd be OK with aluminum. But for diff guards, that will certainly see lots of contact, I want steel. Time will tell, but a heavier rear steel skid might also be nice...

Hi Tom109, I like the Rival skid plate products. They are stamped out of 1/4" thick aluminum to save some weight.
Maybe not as strong as steel, however a nice balance between performance and weight. Their prices appear

Hi Parb, That might make sense to get steel for the 2 differentials as they set the lowest to the ground and would have the most chance of having an impact.
Something to consider.
Is there a brand you are looking at yet?

For what it's worth, the lowest point on the truck is the OEM fuel tank skid plate

I haven't yet. Kind of waiting for the market to deliver. Those are also not that hard to get custom made by an off-road shop.

This is right. I haven't really made my mind up on the gas tank protection either.
