Some days ago I tried the panic key button from quite a distance:

• I was sitting in my work room at the front of the house.
• The car is parked in the garden at the back side of the house
• I pressed the key and alarm went off.

Perhaps useful to scare off burglars or bears walking in the garden?

Yes, Bears.... in the garden. hmm. I see them often here in Belgium...a real plague. Maybe it also helps to scare away mosquitoes?

Soo. After waking up the neighbours at 1 am last night when I accidentally pressed the panic button while getting out pf the car (pressed the key against the steering wheel), I am determined to kill that panic button. I never missed one and the only reason to panic I could think of around here would be that we run out of beer in the middle of the night. Since no beer came after pushing the button, I think I can get rid of it.

I love the idea mentioned earlier, to adjust the software but I really don’t want to wait for it. So my thought was that it can’t be too hard to disconnect the middle button. I am not an electrician, but my guess would be to open the link in the red circle. I‘ll ask my more experienced hacker friend tomorrow and report. Happy to hear your thoughts in the meantime.

Well, you could just try it as you will have a spare key. At worst it will become the spare!

So it’s push the panic button again to stop it?

I’m going to wait until midnight and then try it out.
I’m guessing any button pressed after tripping the panic button should work, but you never know.

Love the panic button. At the Game fair people assumed my vehicle was part of the display, despite being way behind the stand next to the van and trailers.

When people decided to try climb up into my roof tent, I would hit the panic button. A few of them went flying

So that's done. No more panic for my neighbours and myself in the middle of the night. My friend disabled the panic button mechanichally (unfortunately, he didn't take any photos) and said, if I ever sold the car, I could just replace the piece of hardware he removed from the button with a part from a cheap otc remote control.

I think it’s still better than the same positioned button on my other bmw powered car - an X6 which has the boot opener in the same key fob location. Often I return to find the hatch sitting wide open in the supermarket car park where it’s been pressed in my pocket as I nonchalantly walk off. Thankfully I haven’t come back to no car, and it’s never been full of rain water on return either. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time that I get back and someone’s taken up squatters rights in the boot. So hurrah for the ineos panic button loud noise - far better than the bmws easy access “feature”.
