I will watch with much interest.
The benefit of towing a van/trailer - very little in the back of the car!

Yes, I can see he has cantilevered the tow ball weight with 4 x gerry cans also which is not a bad idea

Probably not a huge problem on a setup that size and weight, but adding weight at the rear of a trailer is generally a very bad idea and weight high at the back is even worse.
Which is why the engine on my 45yo 911 is low , despite being behind the back axle!

Definitely want more weight on the ball then behind the trailer axle. Pretty small trailer though but you can definitely get some unstable situations if you don’t have enough weight on the tow vehicle. I was going to say ball weight but I know how everyone mind here works.

Not much info there, although his opening remarks to me indicated some issues later on?
At least he’s home and the IG is in the shed.

or lengthen the wheel base (which Porsche did by 2.5 inches for the 69MY)
They were rather embarrassed at their McGyvering the stability issues using the 11kg cast iron weights!

OKA's look fantastic, the issue is they are slow and very under powered/thirsty. They are making them again, and they are relatively cheap second hand, this prime example is $60k,
And the one I travelled in was very noisy , rode uncomfortably (my S3 landy is luxury by comparison) and to be kind , agricultural. Yet capable, lie a tractor.

Everything was being rushed as 911 completion was way behind schedule (initial launch date was Jan 1964).

Prototype testing during winter 1964, showed the initial front axel & suspension design was not sufficient given the large rear weight (59/41) bias.

The solution designed was a more complex and adjustable damper bars & front strut arrangement. However, Hans Tomala (Tech Director,) to cut costs, simply authorised the welding of the top strut connection to the body and with no abilty to fine tune the set-up the need for crude 11kg ballast to the bumpers was required, until early 1966 when the original solution was adopted (and Tomala fired).
