Been out looking at ineos’s to purchase. I believe that Ineos could save money and be more effective by eliminating some choices making them standard to the vehicle. For example, all cars should have a trailer hitch and heated seats. From looking, someone will order a base with a hodgepodge of components that IMO aren’t useful. What car, at least in the USA, doesn’t come without “standard” items. Just streamline the process, the choices should be colors and accessories to each model available. And, I guess that would include safari windows as accessories.

I would agree on this not just for Ineos Automotive but all manufacturers. When ordering a sunroof you shouldn't need purchase leather, or some other non-related component. I think in the short term sharing dealer inventory with new dealers coming online would help some of the original dealers' clear space. From what I can tell there are only 4 dealership groups that have more than 1 location. The other 15+ dealers in the US/Canada are single locations with a lot of inventory.

Different markets have different tastes, and regulations thus making different models for different countries. Even the trailer hitch electrics are wired differently for US, Aus, and EU and UK regulations. There is a limit to what you can standardise on a worldwide vehicle.

I agree in theory, I mean Honda has option packages down to an art and I'm sure it's way more efficient on the assembly line. BUT... during the PTO2 tour, the mouthpiece guy who gave the big talk to the groups clearly and repeatedly told us that in the US the starting point for a build would be the Trialmaster and Fieldmaster, there would be no base wagon. I questioned him on this, he doubled down and plainly said 'no wagon'. I understood this decision for exactly the reasons you give, but it also pulled the rug out from under me. This was going to be a BIG purchase for me, and not being able to start from a base wagon was probably going to price me out of it. I was very happy he was wrong!

Inefficient? Yep. But I loved being able to build my truck, my way.

I'm assuming you were at the Dallas event? IIRC that was the second event of the tour... We were plainly told until about halfway through that we were only getting Belstaff editions in the US, and then it shifted to getting the base as well.

Like you, I was super happy to have the possibility of getting a base and optioning it with only what I specifically wanted

I agree with building your truck your way and the good thing is that you also took delivery. Maybe Ineos needs to get a bigger deposit on builds. I’m not saying that building a truck is a bad thing, but seems like it could be a struggle to sell some of these builds that weren’t paid for by the original builder.
