What effect on handling?
Do portals get hot? Straight cut gears?

Not sure what specific effects that the portals had on handling but in a Hummer tire pressure was a bigger issue to me. Of course AM General called them geared hubs and not portals but they are technically the same.

Not sure on the letech portals but portals but I have seen both helical and straight cut. Predator Motorsports built a new body style 4x4 Squared Gelandewagen before the factory did and they were helical. I am not sure if they ever said the manufacturer of them as side from, they were German and took a long time because they built it around the pandemic.

Hi Tazzieman, Dirtbox Overland just posted this video that discusses suspension and handling with portals. They are developing their own among many other products.
