IG 40 uk registration for sale on DVLA auction site

Can I be a complete ignoramus, and ask why IG40 would be a unique plate? Not being a LR a person, perhaps I am missing something??
The only possible explanation is that there are no other plates designated IG40. In England.

Yes. There will be only one IG 40 in the UK.

You can’t stipulate your own plate and each plate is age related, there is also a rule that you can’t put a newer year plate on an older car to make it look newer.

So a 2020 car couldn’t have MY23 GRN put on it as that would be a 2023 plate.

Personal plates on the UK are big business with really unique plates being silly money such as RR 1 would be probably a £1m cost (just guessing).

Mr Rolls Royce or Range Rover man would give their hind leg for it.

IG1 would be cool though.😆
Not exactly unique however IG 30 is on sale at around £30,000 as are similar plates at similar sums. Certain plates for some of us are a thing of beauty. Difficult to explain but so is the brown saddle leather and I want that too. :)
A UK private plate is in itself a status symbol but it has to be the right one. Very short and usually with a 1.

I don't understand he whole plate thing on a normal car.
I see people driving around with plates such as 928GTS or Honda and I think ....yes it is written on the back of your car just above the number plate.
It all seems to just be a waste of time and money to me.

Maybe a waste of time but they hold there value really well a 3 digit plate 25 years ago was 7-10k nowadays the cheapest start at 50k and go a lot highter, 2 digit plates start at 350k.

better than inflation.

I agree. But if you live in the city and like to impress, spend the winch money on a plate instead, I guess.
But you have to be careful. To a medical person , e.g. high performance models designated HSV = herpes simplex virus and HPV = human papilloma virus (warts).
If they only knew...:ROFLMAO:

That's because you haven't had the experience of driving round in a Land Cruiser with the registration B16 COK 😁

VW doing very similar with a Polo
Not comparable. Much cheaper looking choice of colors.

Though some don't like it I consider the LR above a real work of art. (y)

I prefer the standard UK number plate format (letter, letter, number, number - 3x letters) which is personalised. Means something to the owner but means bugger all to the rest. Bit of a 'stealth' plate.

Obviously a subjective matter.
