Boy, some noses are pushed. I can't wait to work through this. So, Let’s have a go, shall we? I'll just read it paragraph by paragraph and see what I think. Note: I changed my idea quickly to addressing concepts, because he uses 1 sentence paragraphs. I still referred them as (P) even though that's not accurate. My HS composition teacher would stab him in the eye with her recently emptied red pen.

P1) people have been reaching out to him.
MM.. Ok. first I've heard of him, so wuddn't me. I'll give it a T for true, maybe it was his brother. (T)

P2+) Just some data, and quote from the designer which sounds like what I heard 5 years ago that piqued my interest. (T)

P3) The new defender isn't the same as the old. (T)

P4) He grew up on a farm and gives plausible reasons to choose a defender, that in my experience on a farm seems fine. (T)

P5) As a previous Defender 110NAS owner, its a bit of 110nas hyperbole, but the intent is well... True. (T)

New section on offroadability. <--not a real word, zimm.

P6) You can get them without lockers, which is stupid, I agree. (T)

P7) 35's require a lift and offset, 33's require a lift (could be on wide metrics), and 32's are tiny. Here's what I'll say, 32's are a bit small on a car this weight, in today's world. They are fine for the U part of SUV though. Odd choice, but not necessarily bad for travel, where one wants the common tire, whatever that may be. The footprint isn't the real issue, it's the roll over ability, and GC lost when aired down for float. (T/F)

P8) Angles... Ummm.. yea. It's just data, and I'm not looking it up. I'll give it to him. (T)

P9) Articulation. Honestly, It's kinda disappointing, but part of that is due to other manufacturer's figuring out IFS with a really flexy rear axle doesn't have the overall disadvantage it used to. In fact a bronco can be made to out flex a grenadier. There's a limit to how flexy a solid front can be, before it get's wonky at high speed. It's just no longer the advantage it used to be. What was once true is becoming an old wives tale. And he's correct about the sacrifices. (T)

P10) The tcase is 2.5. Well, I have a 2.3 and 4.7 inline on another car, and unless im doing something one would never do in a big top heavy Utility vehicle, I'm in the 2.3 case. I'm GLAD they didn't get on the bandwagon and put a 4.0 in. It's an automatic. A 2.5 will act like 3.0 or higher with TQ converter in front of it. He's technically true, but he gets a false for a stupid conclusion. I had a Proff take 10pts off a test due to a butchered 5pt problem once, so I can do the same. Oh, and 40 years later, f**k you bitch, you cost me an A. (F)

P11) Yea, it's pig. Enough I'm actually (cough) mounting aluminum skids... oy... When something is heavier with out advantage, I consider it under engineering, not over. (T)

P12) Cost V Rubicon... Ok. It's just data. (T)

P13) People buy it to flaunt. Just like all the stupid useless shit people keep slapping on the side, to drive to work. Self awareness is an admiral trait. Yep. (T)

P14) The engine sucks? Well I don't know about his buddy, but I do know when that make and motor was announced, there was a general collective groan and experienced wheelers sorta hung their heads. NOBODY expected a BMW, for the basic reason NOBODY wanted it. Even Magna didn’t want it, as evidenced by the (2l milk carton) added hump in the floor. You think they planned that shit? That being said, what moves a vehicle is power, it produces power, and it isnt some 450hp asshole motor that’s gonna break stuff, so while disappointed at the choice, I'm fine with its application.
Now for the Coup de grace, His conclusion!

P15-18) Sorry. It’s kind of anti-climactic. The Rubicon is great if you want cheap and your ego can tolerate driving something chicks and 25yo Bros drive, which isn’t me. The tremor is cool if you wanna fit in out there in political red land, or… actually want a usable bed in a massive rig. The f150 raptor? A full size pickup, with an suv load/tow capacity… to me it’s pointless, in fact, anything with a bed that doesn’t equate to at least an f250 I think is stupid, but whatever.

My conclusion? So he said it’s too much money for what you get. He’s right about that. It’s the sales in GB, that LOVED the old defender and USED it like a defender, but won’t buy this defender wannbe that tells you that, not him. The market has spoken. Why all the anger at someone thats 95% right about simple observations? At least this thing makes me think I’m a couple decades younger, by reviving the love/hate relationship I had with that fucking 110.

Ditto! Wranglers rubicon felt cool.. but i simply could not be associated with that demographic!

IG’s price of admission is worth it.

it's the same as the G wagon being associated with 22" rims and douchebags

I'm a member at a club, 'cause I'm getting old and loud pubs aren't always my thing. I don't like most of those people either, but they are quiet and avoid me, and while the food may be 4x the price, it is 2x as good. That having been said, considering the buy in price, I bet the interior gets a good spiffing up in the base model in '27 or '28. I guess one cant discuss the interior without ever having touched it.

IA just need to remediate an handful of egregious issues with the vehicle, for existing owners.
Then i see it potential for long term ownership..

Som much content on the net is just desperate wannabe click bait. You don’t often get a balanced review of anything anymore, just “this is the best bar none” or “never buy this” …. “5 things you should never eat” …. Etc etc..

Its an opinion, but opinions don’t float on the net anymore without a generous helping of hyperbole.. Hence this shite.

90% of the reviews on the Grenadier seem to have been written by journalists who have no idea what its for and seem to insist on comparing it to SUV type vehicles , hence all the steering complaints.. I pity anyone who ever bought anything on the recommendation of these idiots.

Then there’s the “off road” tests, most of which seem to have been done on tracks you could do in a Dacia Duster.

Yawn…

As a family we bought a Peugeot 106 Rallye Series 1 on the basis of articles in Car magazine. It was fabulous and we probably should not have sold it.

Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Wes, perhaps, should have kept his to himself, or at least driven one to understand that the cost and heft gets you more than just the kudos of a different car to the Jones's.

That's par for the course with 80k+ vehicles tbh. Coming from a Defender that demo represents like 90% of the online hate lol
