Update: I've refined the design a bit to make fillets on all the surfaces, and decreased the size of the rounded bits. Added more relief on the underside too. It's shown with (imperial) 2-56 hex head bolts, I will be ready to go once I can source longer M2 screw cutting fasteners (like the OEM fasteners) in a slightly longer length in stock. Ali express has them, but will take a few weeks to get them to me. In the meantime, I'll do more driving tests, but so far I think this design is a big improvement over the original design. Thanks everyone for all the feedback and encouragement!

lol, you all are moving way faster than I am. Thank you for letting me know that the payments were not working: I'm fixing that problem now. I'm producing parts on the CNC now, but won't have items in stock until the longer screws arrive. (McMaster does not seem to carry the right screws that I could find.) STL files will be available of the part, though I suggest a plastic bit is not appropriate for the steering wheel of a 75k vehicle! CNC machined aluminum will look WAY better.

I will definitely update you all and provide URLs as soon as I'm ready to start taking orders.

maybe... I'm not confident those have the right thread pitch (though it does not really matter in plastic.) I do have the proper screws on order though, should be here in a week. I had no idea the demand for this button guard would be so... immediate!

One of the things I like about the interior is all of the aircraft style guards that make you less likely to accidently flip on a switch you didn't intend to.

BUT...

I always hit the microphone button when I'm turning the wheel, especially in parking lots, which annoyingly makes my grenadier listen to what's being said and disrupt the music or my concentration!
To this end, I fabricated a couple of guards that protect these buttons:

It has a recess on the back side so the button is not depressed, and sits about .187 high, just enough so your palm does not hit the button when you turn the wheel, but the button is still easy to press when you need it.

would anyone else be interested in these? The design is still a prototype, but if there's enough interest, I could make up a batch of them.

Please, take my money so I stop hitting that mic button

I've refined the design a little based on the feedback here, and will offer two versions: brushed or matte finish. there's really only a small difference between the two, but the choice is yours. There's also a digital download if you'd like to test fit, or 3d print your own. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on the screws to arrive, but should have them soon, and then the guards will be marked "in stock"

Right now, I have it set up for a priority mail flat rate anywhere in the US. Unfortunately that does cost $8.95 (includes tracking, etc.). HOWEVER... I think these might be light enough that I can ship 'em snail mail via the postal service, which may be as cheap as a forever stamp. I'll get it resolved by the time the screws arrive.

1. You have your choice of brushed or tumbled finishes, but don't sweat it too much, they really look about the same. I'll add more pictures tomorrow.
2. The screws FINALLY came in. The head of the screw is just a little (.020") smaller in diameter that the original, but it still looks pretty close to the OEM part. You may be able to re-use your original screws too, but I'm throwing in some 8mm length screws that will work for sure.
3. Upon checkout, there will be 2 options: 2 day express mail (tracked, insured, etc.) for $8.95 or USPS postal mail (snail mail) for $1.00 as a lower cost option.. these come in just under the 1oz weight limit, so can be sent domestically as a letter.
4. International: I don't think the squarespace ecommerce will allow these to go international. if there is significant interest from other countries, I'll figure something out. Also, if you're interested in buying more than 2 sets let me know and we can work out a wholesale arrangement at a discount. You can send me an email through octodyne.com if you have questions.

Caught the button that makes the computer talk to me yesterday, had no idea what to do. Wife asked 'what was that?' The computer said 'call mum'! I live in UK. will be interested in international shipping
