Guards for the buttons on the steering wheel, so you don't press them EVERY time you turn! (are others interested in this design?)

Wow! Brilliant. I have been waiting for something like this. Any way to have the button-guards available in Germany? Or is there a US member willing to send them to me?

Interesting.... what's the significance of driving with one hand only on the steering wheel? 🫣
Comfort, beer in other hand, other hand on leg of girl sitting next to you, Big Mac in hand with fries in the cup holder, phone in hand checking emails or latest Gram likes or the worst, picking your nose because for some weird reason people think they have some privacy through their clear glass windows 😂😂🤮🤭…..

You know normal stuff people do in a car😜😂😂

I'm in.

#1 on my list of things I would change on the steering wheel. #2 would be swapping the toot and cruise buttons. Since I drive with my left hand and rarely if ever use cruise control.

I think it needs a bigger wheel. it has always struck me as being really tiny.

I would be up for a set as well! This happens to me at least 3 or 4 times a week.

I am very interested as well. I am among those who hit it on a regular basis when turning...

I am happy to join the kick starter idea and make a bit of an investment. Maybe we see what an initial batch, anodized in black, would cost and then figure out how pre-orders from the forum's Grenadier Works store can work pre-paid pre-orders for other colors? It just makes sense!

I thought the same thing. Now consider that the gearing/ratio of steering on the Grenadier is significantly higher than most vehicles. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it sure feels that way and it makes sense for something built for 4x4 primarily, because you'll get less skittish kickback on rough stuff. (This is totally independent of steering wheel diameter; it's gearing in the box.)

Thus we have to turn our wheels more times to get our wheels pointed 45 degrees to the side than most vehicles. Now if our steering wheels were larger, we'd just have more hand travel around the circumference to accomplish the same thing. Maybe that factored into Magna's design decision. 🤷‍♂️ Speculating.

Euro design. It's just NATO getting under your skin. After all, they put that big plug under the rear bumper 😁

Now that I found a parts source for a NATO plug and reason to use it, it's one of my favourite features. It fits in the "bigger and heavier than it needed to be" column. 🤣

Wow... I've had a lot of interest in these steering wheel guards! I guess I'm not the only one who had this problem. I'm actively working on a machining strategy to make these parts in multiples, instead of one at a time. I think I have it (mostly) figured out in my CAD/CAM programs. I've also refined the design a bit to further fillet the edges so there's no sharp corners, and a few other small refinements.

I've been testing the prototypes and am very pleased with the results: especially when backing up and cranking the wheel, the guard is small enough so that you don't feel it, but large enough that it prevents accidental button presses. Yes, it's just a tiny part, but a huge quality of life improvement to an already awesome vehicle.

I'm going to make it as inexpensive as I possibly can: the material cost itself is insignificant, though it does take time to CNC machine it from aluminum stock, deburr, surface finish, postage, etc. I'll look into a reseller, or may just sell it through my website octodyne.com It's unrelated to INEOS gear, but already setup for ecommerce.
