No. UK/EU type approval makes selling non-approved bars an offense. As the Grenadier has a winch solution without external metalwork, the usual waiver for "Winch bumpers" will not apply either.Anyone know whether the UK market can obtain the smaller metal front bumper from other markets?
If not, has anyone found an aftermarket solution as I hate the front bumper on the UK spec vehicle, it's absolutely huge.
I wouldn't want a winch.No. UK/EU type approval makes selling non-approved bars an offense. As the Grenadier has a winch solution without external metalwork, the usual waiver for "Winch bumpers" will not apply either.
A smaller bumper in an alternative material would be massive development job, (think £Millions), so I'd suggest you sit in the vehicle so you cannot see it!
Yes, French writer Guy de Maupassant frequently dined in one of the Eifel tower's restaurants, not because he was particularly fond of the cuisine on offer, but because, being inside the structure was the only way for a Parisian to avoid having to look at it.I wouldn't want a winch.
A smaller bumper is what is needed IMHO, and I am sure it will happen during a mid-life update as the current design is horrendous. Is the "suggestion" an attempt of humour BTW?![]()

LFD Off Road and Expedition One are two that I know of for sure, several others have it in their plans as well, but if they haven't announced publicly, I won't be the one to do it.Oh nice. Who have you heard of? Google search didn’t pull up much and couldn’t find any announcements about it.
Metal.Would one of the North American owners by able to share if the front bumper is metal or plastic?
Thank you
And not as large as the Plastic Euro option.Metal.
Excellent; thank you. Gives me greater options for additional off-road lighting.Metal.
Thats why I laugh at the "instant classic" comments, should the whole experiment go tits up. It'll be easier to get parts an labor for an '81 512bbi.Happened on 10 Jan and still trying to get parts via insurance - complete shitshow
Anyone know if any of these are E marked for EU/UK use?
I like the step/seat of the Euro spec Grenadier, maybe doesn’t look great but really useful and function beats form in my book.
I really want an aftermarket front bumper. This was caused by a Defender sliding into me at walking pace:

Interesting thanks! I spoke to somebody I know who works for NFU and he reckoned they were meant to be E marked but did say he wasn’t 100% sure.Actually E marking isn't relevant for bumpers in the UK.
There are some detailed requirements for bumpers in order to get type approval, you do not have to follow them, just the manufacturer.
If you search for the appropriate regs, it will basically say that a bumper needs to be properly mounted, no dangerous protrusions etc.
