Any recommendations on equipment for the 2 day class? Am I likely to need sliders or a winch?

You, yourself, and a stock vehicle is fine for both fundamentals and recovery classes.

For day 2 (recovery), a winch is great, but if you don't have one, you'll be hands on with winching, kinetic rope recovery, and more.

Sliders are only "required" (strongly recommended is more appropriate) for the Driving Workshop classes (which are intermediate/advanced and taught at an adjacent property with lots of rocks)

I could only attend the first day of the April 6-7th Course. I'm most interested in recovery (Cannot attend the May 11th recovery course either I don't think), especially winching fundamentals. But the videos of the ditch look so cool, I would probably go to a two-day course that had some driving training as well.

If you're looking for recovery specifically, that would be the second day of the weekend class, but keep checking the OEX website, I'm sure there will be another Recovery Workshop later in the year

Will be looking out for the dates for the 2 day weekend class later this year!!

Hey all - bumping this back up. I'm looking to see if there would be interest in having a two day class in the NoVA area (Like the Orange / Culpepper area) in 2025. In my conversations with OEX, it looks like we need to get paying students on board.

Reply to this message, as well as sending me a DM to let me know if you'd be able to commit. Cost was $650, and I imagine prices next year would be similar.

It is a fantastic area! The main OEX training property in NC is approximately 200 acres of purpose built trails on private land surrounded by the Uwharrie NF, with access to another property just a few miles away that is almost exclusively "challenging" terrain only (requiring skids, sliders, lift, etc. for use).

The outpouring response is awesome to see, so I'll try to gather some dates and specifics, and let this poll run for a few more days
I did the PTO2 experience tour event at the OEX NC facility - GREAT location! Easy to get to from Charlotte or R/D, DC, etc. Strongly encourage those in the area to go for it.

I’m interested in all options if timing works out. Would be driving up from Charleston SC.

I'm interested in coming out for a VA excursion (all day) and spend night in Charlottesville area. Great wineries/breweries.

Hey all, for those that may not know, I do some training with a company called Overland Experts. OEX is one of the (if not the) largest off road training company in the US based on fleet size and number of instructors; and have three primary training locations (CT, NC, and UT). Many of you met some of those instructors during the US PTO2 tour, as such OEX's instructors have more time behind the wheel of Grenadiers than any other training company stateside as well.

There have been a number of people from the forum that have reached out to me regarding training classes through Overland Experts, and I'm looking forward to meeting several of you that are already signed up for upcoming training classes in NC throughout the coming months!

A few months ago someone mentioned doing a Grenadier specific training class, and as the 2024 Calendar starts filling up, figured I'd try to gauge interest in trying to set something like that up. Currently the normal group classes operate on either a 1 day (Fundamentals, Driving Workshop, Recovery Workshop, or Field Expedient Repair), 2 day (Fundamentals and Recovery Workshop), or 3 day (Fundamentals, Recovery workshop, and FER) layout.

I'd love to start a discussion about what people would want (if at all), and which location(s) would be desired. OEX has done similar "brand specific" trainings in the past with some wonderful feedback, so it seems logical to try to offer this to Grenadier owners as well.
Send them to Texas!!
