Hello,

some of you may remember my thread from January 2024.

https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/black-infotainment-screen.12414276/

When we finally took delivery of our Grenadier with a new head unit ECU on 01.03.2024, we assumed that that was it.

Wrong thinking, as it turned out today.

On Monday, we dropped the Grenny off at the dealer, for renewal of the four door seals and three campaigns, including software update 1.4 for MY23.

The truck was supposed to be ready for collection yesterday. Far from it. Today I find out the following:

When installing the software update, the head unit ECU went off after about 50%. Even the remote emergency team from Ineos couldn't help.

Result: the head unit ECU is defective and must be replaced!

We hope that this will not take more than 10 weeks again. Supposedly the spare part has already been sent by Ineos today and should arrive on Monday. Will it already have the latest software version? Who knows. If not, the software update 1.4 for MY23 must be done...🤪

I've had the same issue since I picked up my Grenadier in June. I took it into Service 2 weeks ago and, just as you, they aren't receiving feedback from IA in London. So for now, my truck is in limbo until IA gets back to the dealer. This is immensely frustrating: no loaner, no apologies, no timeline, nothing. For a $100,000 vehicle, I expected to get a loaner at a minimum while they take forever to figure out what to do next.

EDIT: my issue is rather peculiar. The screen would remain black on start up only in the mornings (first drive of the day) and usually before 10am. If the truck was started after 10am, no problem usually. If you drove the vehicle around while the screen was black, parked, turned it off and locked it, you could fire it back up within 5 minutes and the screen would work. It was repeatable. Clearly an ECU / FW issue causing some sort of initialization problem. The only silver lining to this was when the screen didn't come on, neither did the ADAS so I wasn't tortured with the clicking while being unable to turn it off!

FWIW, your dealer will be dealing with a regional technical rep here in the US, and they would escalate it higher if needed.

Loaners are a dealer-dependent thing (for virtually every car brand), and definitely worth checking into with your local dealer before deciding if that's the place to go if the loaner is important to you.
