Complete system schism caused by a single Broken Wheel Speed Sensor Wire

I refuse to take a bath with my Gren due to their poor software bugs and other issues that have left my truck in the shop for over 3 months which is I why I hired an attorney and am working through the consumer law path. Some folks are willing to put up with bugs, meltdowns, faults, and failures on a brand new truck, which is fine as it is their decision. But I had really high hopes for this truck and I unfortunately have come to no longer trust it for remote travels so she has to go. I truly love everything about this truck, but the gremlins are just too much, and a non-functional HVAC system was another nail in the coffin. I can't have my little ones riding in a car when its below freezing with a non-functional heater. Especially with the price tag of these vehicles.
Curious how cost of an attorney compare against just selling it for a lose ?

Correcting this post's title would seem appropriate. Perhaps, "Wheel Speed Sensor Wire Broken" would be more accurate.
I would still say - complete system failure caused by Broken Wheel Speed Sensor Wire. How one sensor failure could shut down the whole car is behind me. CANBUS be damned. I have plenty of vehicles with CANBUS that would not have gone into such a schism over the failure of one sensor.

I have now updated the thread title to stop offending some of you .

I have just sold the vehicle. I will make a separate post on my year of ownership, the buyers remorse, and the decisions that made me pull the nuclear option.

Many systems rely on the wheel speed sensor, even more so with all the driver assist systems, so I expect the Christmas tree lights. On my old D2, it’s common to see the “three amigos” (ABS, ETC, and HDC) light up, often indicating something wrong with the ABS wheel speed sensor or the wire/connector.

The annoying thing with the Grenadier is the manner it surfaces the warnings with the bongs and incessant error messages.

Memories!

As long as you are happy now. Enjoy your JLR or Toyota ownership. Might want to Google all the engines that Toyota has been replacing lately. Gone are the days of the FJZ80 (should have never sold mine) and don’t even get me started on the epic POS that all 6 Land Rover/Range Rovers I have owned. In fact my Wife’s 2020 Range Rover is in the shop as I type because of a U0111 code that they can’t figure out. The module has lost communication with the battery and they don’t know why.

You might have gotten a Christmas tree of lights but at least it was drivable and a simple repair. Not so with my JLR experiences.

My LR3 was a mess from the beginning. Granted it was a beast offroad and fun as hell to drive, the maintenance costs ended up driving me into a 100 Series LC. The LC has been bullet proof with just normal wear and tear items and scheduled maintenance.

Same. I am bitter AF that we didn't get the 300. Anxiously waiting for the 2025 Lexus LX700h Overtrail to see it in person. That front grill is horrible, and would take a bit to get used to.

Yes, it is becoming tougher for 4x4 enthusiasts to find an adequate vehicle. That's why I care and pamper my vehicle stock.

I can't reveal confidential conversations I had with the head of JLF powertrain, but sufficed to say they have been in a race to the bottom pot quality rankings for years. This is why Jaguar are dumping ICE and now focussed on getting quality right for BEV. The biggest issue with modern cars is software and government interference (read nanny monitoring and control). My last Defender was a 2005 110. The last JLR product I will ever own.

Even a 2007-up Toyota Tundra freaks out if it does not get a signal from one of the wheel sensors. No 4wd, no abs (which makes sense), no stability or traction control. No traction control even when it's the front wheel sensor.

Where the Toyota "might" suck less is that the sensor wire can be replaced all the way to the wheel, rather than the last foot and the sensor being one part.

I jumped in the car to go for breakfast this morning and then I got an unexpected Christmas Tree show. So many lights and bongs. Anyone else seen or had this? Tried several restarts. Plugged in the code reader and it shows 4 faults and 10 monitors not working. Will not decode details. Probably a cheaper ODBII reader. Did not reset them. Logged call with dealer to come tow it away.

Had/have exactly the same problem. After the workshop deleted the warnings and changed a sensor on the ABS and found a faulty pin connection there too, the car ran for 2 days and everything started all over. On the way to the workshop more and more problems turned up: no automatic gear shifting anymore, only manual; no speed indication, seatbelt warning, ad blue warning no start in 400kms, break system fault (but working). The car has been in the workshop now for more than 10 days. 4 days ago they still hadn’t found the problem. Seems not a lot of help from the company’s side.
Very annoying as it is my working vehicle in my veterinary practice. My 1950 LR Series 1 is more reliable than this. 🤬
