Hi,

I purchased a second Grenadier from dealer stock. On my other one I have an altimeter that I like. Does anyone know if one can be retrofitted and where to get one? My sales rep at the dealership did not know. Thanks!

I wanted that darn compass so badly! During the buying process I asked if that could be added and I think it would cost $1200. They said they had to remove the dash and that it was a real pain to do afterwards.

I want to mount one on my dash but am clueless as far as choosing the right one.

I have heard it is a pain to remove/replace; I would also imagine that the harness is not present for it, although I could be completely wrong about that aspect

My 2 cents, although it looks cool, I hardly ever even glance at it anymore and probably would chose to save the money now rather than option it. For whatever reason the backlight on it seems to be backwards, bright when the headlights are on and dim when the headlights are off. Because of this, it's really hard to see during the day.

Dave — didn’t know about that menu! Thanks!
It really worries/bothers me that dealers aren't going through detailed walk throughs on these vehicles... Another person posted on one of the FB groups that their dealer never told them about how to turn on the aux lights in the grille, and another sales person told an owner "they are easy to figure out" and gave no walk through.

The top "altitude" reading in @DaveB's first image above shows the "bearing" on our screen along with the outside temp and phone status. It will read 0-360º depending on which direction the vehicle is driving...usually.

Hi, I can confirm that one can be fitted "after" as I was able to grab one off a car that had been in an accident and written off here in Aus a couple of months ago. I took a chance on the wiring being there even though my original order did not have the compass ordered and when I removed the Grenadier symbol the wiring was there!
Removal of the Grenadier symbol that was there did take some doing and I did have to damage the circular body that held the Grenadier symbol by drilling out part of the holding pin that was held in place with a screw so to do it absolutely to OEM spec would require removal of the dash. I made the call to use a rubber grommet in the part of the dash that held the unit in place as the holding pin does "secure" the compass casing.
Having said all that, I connected the wiring as part of the cars harness, reseated the body of the compass in the hole (and it is not going anywhere i might add), and turned on the car, lights came up and the thing works.
As such the hard part is sourcing a compass and being prepared to accept that installing it will require a very small amount of unseen damage to behind the section of dash that held the bodies pin.

I have the compass and find it pretty useless. That said, without, it does look a bit empty.
I liked the suggestion from someone on here of fitting an analogue style clock in that position. Looking on Ebay, Amazon, etc, there is plenty of choice for such an addition. A stick-on version would be simplicity itself.
I seem to remember reading of the Bentley which has a clock in a similar position. This clock could be upgraded to a 'Complication' model from a world renowned clock manufacturer at the very reasonable price of £125,000 !!!!

I have no idea how to work so many things! I bought mine from Mossey and it was shipped here to Phoenix. I had already driven a Grenadier in MT where I was able to rent one, so at least there was that.

Also I’ve been driving LR Discos or an LR3 for maybe 15 years — so all of the modern stuff in cars these days is not something I’m used to at all! I need a workshop or an online course lol.

Many of us would likely benefit from a day or two with a professional. Perhaps there are some local overloading clubs where you live?

That’s great to know! As time progresses I am sure one will come up!
